Having just got back from a weeks stay at the Palace hotel I have to say that I can thoroughly recommend it.
I had based my booking on the other Tripadvisor recommendations.
I booked a standard room, as the business or executive were not available for my week. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the standard of the room, well appointed , clean and spacious.
My room was situated on the 2nd floor to the back of the hotel so it was nice and quite :-) Bed and pillows were to my liking, which always helps for a good nights sleep, also had a 32'' flat panel TV, tea making, trouser press etc. Perfect for my needs.
I was B&B so I can't not give an account of the restaurant for evening meals, but breakfast was good and the staff were very polite and service was very good.
If you want to eat out then there are plenty of places to go to along the esplanade road (there's on next door) and a Weatherspoons (Talk Of The Town) about 10 mins walking distance away.
As other reviewers have sai,d this hotel does aim for the more gentile, elderly person and this helps to give a nice, quite and polite feel to the place.
There are two lifts for access to the bed room floors and are stair lifts too for the rooms on the ground floor.
One can always be picky but for me there aren't major grumbles to speak of. I've stayed in other 3 star hotels that haven't been up to this standard.
