Just back from a 4 night Easter break, staying at the Paignton Travelodge. Travelling as a family of 4, we’ve stayed in a few Travelodges. For the last 2 years we’ve stayed at the Torquay hotel over Easter. The Paignton hotel doesn’t look as nice as Torquay, but I’d say that’s one of the few negatives. Location is great – straight over the road from Paignton Green, and an easy walk to the resort centre. We’d phoned up a few days before, and asked for a quiet room, ideally overlooking the sea. We were given a family room on the first floor, to the left side, which had great views over the green and promenade. It was also far enough along the corridor to ensure we were not interrupted during the night.
Rooms were comfy, well cleaned - we’ve previously had problems with the childrens beds being pull out sofa type things, but the new Travelodge style is real (although collapsible) beds – much better, a lot comfier. Storage is still an issue, Travelodge seem to have scrapped virtually all storage space for clothing, I guess to avoid anything that may break. As family of 4, with clothes / shoes / coats ; we had no alternative other than to live out of our cases, and leave some stuff in the car.
Breakfasts at Travelodges can often be a messy calamitous affair, and Torquay was always problematic, but this was great. Although the serving area was relatively small, it was well managed, always clean plates, bowls and cutlery available, and if there was ever an empty food bowl, it was quickly replenished. Tables were quickly cleared, and staff always friendly.
Lots of previous comments about parking problems ; we arrived mid afternoon on Saturday – the car park was already full, and there were 3 or 4 cars waiting for a space. Reception were very helpful, happy to let us unload and then advised us of alternative parking, either free or payable. We decided that for the first day, we’d park at the council owned Colin Road car park, about a 2 minute walk away. We then realised that there was plenty of free on the road parking around, on either the approach road to Colin Rd carpark, or the next road ; Manor Road. We were never more than a 3 minute walk from the hotel, and over the space of 5 days, spent a total of £2 for parking in Paignton. One point – most of the free on the road parking, is signposted as being from October to April, so those coming from May onwards, might not be able to find free parking, but Colin Rd car park is a 2 minute walk away, and charges £2 per day, and £2 for an overnight.
Overall – a very enjoyable stay, great value for money.

Good quality sleep and clean room but the food in the bar is pretty rubish. Not much option except for some frozen pizza or microwave burger. The bed was very good which insured a good night sleep. As well as a good shower made for a pleasent stay.

Location: Excellent for promenade, attractions and shops.
Staff/check-in: Excellent.
Rooms: Very comfortable, but TV is short of stations, text and programme guide.
Breakfast: Good, but needs more basic options, e.g. fried eggs and hash browns. Drinks dispenser sometimes dispensed very weak drinks. A bit pricey, as it stands.
Generally, a good option for a very short stay.

This was a lovely hotel, staff were very friendly & nothing was to much trouble for them. Very clean & food was great, 2 minutes from beach, 5 minutes from shops
Please note parking is horrendous if your lucky to get a space then I advise you to leave your car there as you will not have a space when you get back, make sure you pay for parking as traffic warden comes round every morning & checks cars.
It is a very busy main road outside hotel & is not easy to cross so be aware of this with children.
Overall a great hotel & look forward to returning again

Spent a week here with my family. Very convenient for the promenade and the Town Centre. We left the car at the hotel most days and walked everywhere. Staff were very friendly. We would go back again. Only downside: very limited parking for the size of the hotel and it is chargeable (currently £5.00 per 24 hour period). However, the seafront parking is within 2 minutes walking distance and is £2.50 between 17.00 - 08.00.
