Good for: Local cuisine
Dining options: After-hours, Breakfast, Delivery, Reservations
Description: We pride ourselves on having a unique combination of menus; with our Tapas style menu consisting of over 25 smaller portion dishes that can be ordered individually as a starter or in multiples to provide a complete meal - a very social and interactive style of dining, promoting lively debate between couples, families or groups until a compromise is reached concluding everyones preferences. This runs alongside our 'Chefs One Plates Menu', vastly different in content, these main courses always including a succulent Steak. These frequently changing dishes focus on our chef's culinary and artistic skills creating thoughtfully flavoured and beautifully presented meals. Lovingly prepared to order, using, as often as possible locally sourced fresh seafood, meat and vegetables.

“Great find”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

We have walked past this restaurant lots of times - this time we decided to give it a go and how glad am I
We hadn't booked, but we still got a nice table. Service is great, very interesting menu too. The taps style menu is very good, mussle portion was huge, lamb taghine well worth a mention as were the scallops.
Didn't have room for a pudding, but those we saw all looked good.
We will be comming back - very high,y recomended

Oh and the wine prices are not too bad at all.

“Great dinner!”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

We had a really nice meal here with our 3 and 5 yr-olds. The service was very friendly and responsive. It was my husband's bday and they were quiet happy to accommodate with a candle in the pudding. They had plenty of options for our kids. We had a nice inside table with a view, but we could have sat outside too. We ordered 6 small tapa dishes for the four of us and our kids don't eat much. We could have probably eaten 1-2 more, but it was fine. I would definitely recommend his place and go back again!

“An Absolute Gem”
Reviewed 30 August 2014 via mobile

Why have we not discovered this delightful restaurant before?! Having visited the Paignton area on holiday many times, eating out in restaurants in Paignton never appealed before, as they were not of our taste. However, having read all of the wonderful reviews about TJ's, we just had to visit and what a find! The setting is fantastic and had it not been chilly and raining, we could've been looking out over a Mediterranean harbour and bay with all the lights! The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the wonderful relaxed atmosphere makes for a pleasant meal. As for the food, the tapas style menu is lovely, with plenty of delicious dishes to try. Highly recommend the scallops with pine nuts, mushrooms and spinach! The service in this restaurant is also excellent and now we've discovered TJ's, we will definitely return!

“Paigntons hidden jewel”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 via mobile

We visited here on Monday 25th august after reading other reviews. The outside of the building does not indicate how gorgeous and spacious it is.

The little touches like the welcome note on the table if you have reserved a table were lovely. The interior decor is beautiful with lots of fairy lights and the walls painted like the sea. I felt as though I was in the Mediterranean not rainy Paignton! The food was amazing! We had a good selection of tapas dishes and they were all freshly cooked and delicious. The Moroccan lamb was by far the best I have ever tasted in a restaurant. The desserts were beautiful, I can highly recommend the crachan! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the whole ambience was wonderful.

This is our third visit to theTorbay area this month and I only wish we had visited TJ's sooner.

We will definitely return.
