Trentham guest house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac but is only 5 minutes from pubs, beach and the pier.Parking is outside the hotel on the road or to the rear in a private car park. Even before we had got out of the car the hosts Tyron and Joanne were outside to greet us,take our bags and show us to the room.Their down to earth nature and friendliness mentioned in many of these reviews cannot be overstated and is evident instantly. Our room (2) was well set out and well equipped with a well stocked tea tray, biscuits and bottled water. We were even given two big pieces of chocolate cake but I think we just got lucky with that one! The bathroom was a fair size with a consistently hot shower and a large selection of toiletries.
Breakfast is more than substantial.I started with cereal the first morning but soon realised there was no need with the size of the full english! You choose on arrival which items you would like on your full english and if you choose it you get it.
There was lots of information about things to do in the area both from literature and the hosts who could not have been more helpful throughout our stay and are clearly well suited to the profession.
There is something for everyone in Paignton at night but our personal recommendations would be the nearby Spinning Wheel and Murphys Roadhouse pubs for live music and Murphys and the Inn on the Green for meals.
We hope to be back next August and needless to say the Trentham will be our first choice.

We've once again returned from a fantastic trip to stay with Tyron & Jo at their beautiful guest house (2nd for 2014 !) and as always we're overjoyed. Jo's breakfasts and Tyron's humor are everything you could wish for to start your day. Our room was immaculate and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to make your stay the best it could ever be - couple that with their brilliant knowledge and advice and recommendations on things to do & places to eat which meant we once again had the best possible experience that Torbay had to offer. We're already booked in for next year and can't wait to return to meet up with such wonderful and pleasant folks who we now regard as great friends !

We have just returned from a lovely 10 day stay at Trentham Guest House. I can not rate this Guest House highly enough. It is so clean and the beds are so comfortable and the hosts Joanne and Tyron are so friendly and lovely, and can't do enough to help, their tips and advice on places to see and go really make it easier and make your stay so much more enjoyable. We stayed with our 4 children. Tyron's jokes are very funny, he does a joke every morning, 2 if you're lucky! This was our second visit and me and my husband booked for our third stay in June next year for our wedding anniversary and we know it is going to be just as good as the other times we've stayed. If I could give Trentham 10 circles instead of 5 I would, it really is an outstanding place to stay. Tyron and Joanne you really are amazing, lovely people and we are looking forwards to our return in June, thank you for making our holiday so lovely, relaxing, welcoming and enjoyable, see you next year!

After spending seven hours travelling down from Yorkshire, what a smashing welcome we received from Ty and Jo. Our bedroom had everything that we needed a full tray of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits along with bottled water, it was an excellent size and the bed was very comfortable. Toiletries in the bathroom and fresh towels when needed. The accommodation was spotless and very homely. We had the best breakfast you could wish for and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent tourist information from both Ty and Jo, the personal touch when wanting information to get around saved lots of time and enabled us to enjoy the excellent Devon sunshine. We now know why people return year after year and why the Trentham is always fully booked, having free parking for the week meant the car had an holiday and a good rest too. Ty's jokes are infamous both in Paignton and beyond, and you have to get up early in the morning not to be caught out. We are sure that Ty has the seagulls linked to his alarm clock, both are early risers. An agreement with a local larger hotel meant that we could have a drink and have entertainment every night of the week. Been only 3 minutes walk from the door to the beach is something that you don't find from many hotels. Without a doubt when we return to Paignton a booking at the Trentham will be the first item on the agenda. Thank you very much Ty and Jo for everything.

We stayed here for a week in July for our summer holiday and originally booked on the strength of the Trip Advisor reviews.
The room was lovely, the bed comfortable, it was nice and clean and there was a nice full tea tray to make coffee, tea and hot chocolate. There aren't any sea views, but when you literally turn the corner from the road that the Trentham is on, you are facing the sea anyway, so I don't see that this should put people off.
As we holidayed with a family member who stayed at one of the nearby hotels (at considerably more money), we had the chance to compare our room with theirs and they were very much on a par with each other.
The breakfasts were probably some of the best we have had; a wealth of choices, as little or as much as you like and even black pudding on the menu, which pleased my husband as you don't usually see it on menus in the south.
What really sets this guest house apart from others and the local hotels though, is Tyron and Jo. You could not ask for more pleasant hosts for a guest house. They are friendly, helpful and welcoming; their primary goal throughout the week was to make sure we had the best time in Devon that we possibly could. It is their welcoming, accommodating and friendly personalities that has their customers returning here time and again and their books full so far in advance. Jo even took the time to help with suggestions for a wedding speech my husband had to make once we had returned from holiday (and thank-you for that, Jo, as your suggestion was used to great success at the wedding!).
Should we return to Devon, we would not hesitate to book here again and could not have asked for more during our week's stay.

Not having stayed in the Torbay area before we took "pot luck" on Trentham Guest House. We have done this before and been disappointed but on this occasion nothing could be further removed from that. When I booked in a few weeks ago I spoke to Tyrone who was courteous and efficient. I told him roughly what time we would be arriving and when we did arrive there he was waiting for us to help with luggage and to make sure we were able to park the car OK. Parking is a bit tight in the area but Ty has it sewn up and reserves spaces for guests by manoeuvring his own car from place to place. First impression was excellent. There is a seating area in the small front garden which is an explosion of colour as a result of the flowers that he and Joanne have planted and tend assiduously every day. Our room was a good size with all the usual accoutrements and the bathroom was a very good size. Both were spotless. There is also a very comprehensive folder in the room containing literature on things to do in the area. The breakfast on offer was lovely. They put on a very good selection of cereals, juices, yoghurts etc as well as the traditional English Breakfast. The cooking of the breakfast was superb and could not be faulted in any way (and Joanna's singing was a bonus). Nothing was too much trouble for this lovely couple. A perfect example being that my wife suffers from Asthma. The bed has feather pillows to which she is allergic and these were immediately changed when Liz mentioned this. Then there are small touches which mean a lot. For example, they keep a stock of buckets and spades which are freely available to the children in family groups.
The only thing to beware of is Ty's jokes which should carry a government health warning but still made me and all the other guests smile !!!. I've seen less corn in a four acre field.
In conclusion, a lovely guest house run by a lovely couple committed to the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody and certainly hope to return in the not too distant future.
Our thanks to you both.
