Have just returned from the 'round-robin' experience: Steam train to Kingswear with wonderful beach and coastal views, foot passenger ferry to Dartmouth with it's quality shops and eating establishments and then a guided (amusing) tour up the river Dart to Totnes where we enjoyed a first class afternoon tea (Vintage Tea Room) and more excellent shopping.

A great day out and excellent value.

Arrived at Paignton and bought tickets to travel to Kingswear, then got foot ferry to Dartmouth and travelled on Kingswear Castle Paddle Steamer. Tickets in total were £25 and worth every penny, a great day was had by all and the sun shone too, always a bonus.

Was meant to do a steam & cruise but I upgraded to a paddle steamer cruise. Went to pontoon and embarked. Wow, nice boat! Did river cruise , the commentary was interesting. What we're the Western Lady fleet doing in Dartmouth??? Many thanks for a great day out.

Need to book from May onwards. Take the boat from Totnes to Dartmouth. The foot ferry to Kingswear the steam train( walk to the front and get the observation car) then the bus from Paignton back to the Steamer Quay. Stop for lunch in Dartmouth. Coffee in Paignton and an ice cream in Totnes. See the Naval College, Greenways landing and the Sharpham vineyard. See the beaches before Paignton. Love the steam train and the boat ride. And you can do this in the rain or the sun. Round trip c. £25. Book on the web for 5% discount.
