“Round Robin - Worth considering”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We recently did the round robin trip. As the boat leg is tide dependant our 10:00 trip started with the open top bus from Paignton to Totnes. There was a large queue so advise getting there early if you do the same. We managed to sit on the top deck, unfortunately we got a bit wet as it did rain on us – silly me for thinking that wouldn’t happen in August on the English Riviera.
When we got to Totnes the 10:30 boat had already departed, so we went for a coffee and dry out in the returning sun. The next sailing was at 11:45, which we caught. The trip down river was very relaxing and the commentary from the Wheelhouse was interesting and entertaining, highlighting birdlife and historic buildings. Once you arrive at Dartmouth you have plenty of time to look around. I must admit Dartmouth was picturesque but a lot smaller than I envisaged though.
When we were ready we took the ferry from Dartmouth across to Kingsway. That is where you catch the steam train back to Paignton. The carriages were clean and the seats were soft & comfortable. Overall it was a pleasant day trip, worth considering if in the area.

“Pleasantly surprised!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

Its was a lovely boat trip down the River and you got to see some lovely land marks on the way round. Weather was good too, hopefully next time we could do the coast cruise. We also did the steam train from Buckfastleigh to Totnes which was very pleasant and the staff were very welcoming.

“Relaxing trip on beautiful Dart River”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We did a return trip from Totnes to Dartmouth. It was very busy and we had to queue to get on the boat. Trip was comfortable with good commentary and lovely views. Trip takes approximately 1 1/2 hours each way and we felt it would have been better to do one way on the bus which would have allowed more time in Dartmouth or Totnes.

Went on the dartmouth steam train, it was very intresting just wish they had a bit of commentry while riding as were many intresting places to see but nothing was said which I found disappointig.(my opinion). We sat by an older couple who were actually telling us about some of the places we past. Was a very crowded train it was the 11.30 from paingnton. Apart from lack of commentry was a pleasant half hour trip. The station in paignton was intresting as in was all made to look the era of steam. The journey took you to kingswear then you hopped on a ferry to cross to dartmouth. No toilets on the train just at the stations. Im not sure if this is accessible to wheelchairs or not.
