A great place for children. My son loved the swimming pool and flume slide and could have spent all day there! The outside playground was also lovely and very well maintained and had lovely views across the bay. Indoors, there is a soft-play and large games room. Lots for children to do. The kids club also ran various activities throughout the day. Unfortunately, we didn't have great weather, so were most disappointed that we didn't get to use the outdoor pool as its lovey with lots of sun loungers all around! We went to the entertainment a few times, but we found that most of the tables were full by 7pm! There was a great band on the Saturday night which we all enjoyed. The park grounds were very clean and well maintained and the site was very peaceful and relaxing. It is rather hilly, and some of the caravans are accessed by 2 or 3 sets of steps so I would check the location when booking. We hired a privately owned caravan, which was very clean and tidy and was very well equipped. We could also park in a bay just by the caravan, and there were always plenty of spaces available. We made the most of visiting this area, and visited Brixham, Torquay and Teignmouth as well as a day at Crealy as its not too far away. Goodrington beach is not far from the site which is lovely.

After reading some reviews We really didn't know what to expect! (Don't ever believe what you read, work it out for yourselves, We learnt.) On arrival to the park, it was clearly signposted to all of your amenities. Us living only an hour away, we like to make a start on our holiday early (with a large family of 5 kids and 5 adults I'm sure you'll understand that 'Hanging around' isn't an option!!) , going with the plan that if our caravan wasn't ready we'd pop into the pool or down to the beach. Arrived at the reception 11.30am friendly Staff one in particular, Beth. Caravans were both ready!! Amazed we drove over to our caravans M3 and M8. They were absolutely fantastic. Clean, tidy all you could want was in there, brilliantly kitted out, A welcome pack with tea, coffee, milk and sugar was definitely appreciated. Beautiful decking with outside furniture. After settling in we took a walk up-to the clubhouse area, had a spot of lunch on the decking, food from the snack shack was lovely. We went to the restaurant in the evening with was absolutely fab, great prices, friendly staff and lush food. Entertainment was great although you need to get to the showroom before 6 otherwise you were out of luck for seats! We were offered an extra nights stay for a reasonable fee, which we did! On the last night we won bingo, TWICE! Which finished the holiday beautifully. So much to do on and off the park, Swimming pool was lovely, crazy golf, play parks are fab, all weather pitch, arcades. Short walk to Goodrington where we visited Quaywest 'AKA' Splashdown was absolute fun. Had a lovely day at Paignton Zoo and Woodlands. Great trip into Brixham (advised to use the park & ride) and a short drive to Torquay. We really couldn't fit anything else in if we tried. All-in-all a great, memorable holiday! Well done Hoborne Devon Bay, give yourselves a pat on the back. We'll definitely be back. Thanks.

Room Tip: Go for gold!!

We're just on our way home from a great week's holiday at Hoburne Devon Bay. The caravan was large, clean and well layed out. Unfortunately, there were a few maintenance issues which is pretty poor given that it was supposed to be a Gold standard.

The 1st issue was that only one light was working in the lounge space. We noted that this should have been checked by the cleaners but didn't complain as we were able to get enough light by turning on kitchen and shelf lights (the shelves were missing - problem 2). At about 10:30 PM on Sunday night all the lights fused and left us in total darkness so we walked over to the bar/reception to report the problem and get assistance. Reception was closed but a friendly security guard gave us a number to ring but unfortunately couldn't point us to a phone and he had no way of contacting the duty manager himself. With a bit of positioning we managed to get a phone signal on our mobiles and call the duty manager. I'm afraid to say he was hopeless and in desperate need of customer service training. He refused to come and assist instead telling me I needed to make my way through the pitch black caravan and grope round for the fuse box and flick the switches until the lights came on. I asked him if this was safe which he assured me it was (I'd love to see the risk assessment for this). I did manage to get the lights back on but as we now had 5 bulbs out in the living space he agreed to come out with some bulbs. He arrived 10 minutes later but with no bulbs. Overall, his shocking attituded left a very bitter taste.

The next day a maintenance guy came and changed 3 of the bulbs promising to return 5 minutes later with the other 2. Unfortunately he'd left the sockets with no bulbs in and a slight strange design of holder meant that the live contacts were exposed so we called to get them covered. Apparently they'd run out of bulbs and because it was bank holiday they were unable to buy any new ones. It seems the shops are still closed as the bulbs remained out for the rest of the week. Other issues in the caravan included a hidden master switch to turn on the heating was omitted from any documentation. This was found after about 10 minutes searching by the maintenance guy. Other fittings in the caravan were also broken, overall, the caravan really didn't live up to the promised standard.

On to some good stuff, the indoor pool was lovely and warm changing rooms were clean. The site overall looks great. The play area was good.

Unfortunately, despite clear advertising that the outdoor pool would be open from 10 am to 7pm every day we were there, it was locked and closed every time we went, though another guest did tell us they thought they'd seen it open.

The amusement area was a bit of a disappointment, many machines broken and very limited payout of tickets on the few working machines (maybe just bad luck). When my daughter put 20 in a broken machine the unhelpful lady behind the counter initially refused to refund it saying it was obviously broken and that it was my daughters fault for not realising this. She also stated that she wasn't prepared to put an out of order notice on the machine. A quick word with a duty manager saw 5 or 6 out of order notices appear quickly.

Despite the above we had a great holiday, such a shame that a very small amount of attention to detail and some basic customer service skills could have made it so much better, at least in terms of the accommodation and not having the stress of dealing with issues like these on holiday.

Fantastic caravan, site, shop + laundrette. The only downsides were the restaurant + club. The food was not great, had to ask for condiments. Kids meals were far too hot to eat. If you are visiting the club in the evening you need to get there before 5pm to get a table. Tables were wobbly + we were squashed in like sardines so couldn't relax. Entertainers were great, but every night they call the adults up to dance when Sammy is on. This means a lot of the kids couldn't see sammy as they are too small to see over the adults.

Have been visiting now for 4+ years and intend to carry on every year..

Great location and accommodation, we do the sun holidays and just have the basic caravans and haven't got any complaints at all. Always clean and comfortable, staff are very friendly and helpful.

We walk from the site into Goodrington and then into Paignton, being able to leave the car is great!
It's also a short pleasant drive from Torquay.

The site itself is kept well and clean, never any trouble

Can't wait to go back :-)
