“Best stay ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

I stayed in this hotel for two weeks while working in Torquay. The owners are probably the most incredible persons I've ever met! Beautiful place, comfortable rooms, astonishing sea view, amazing persons... what else? :D

I booked this hotel for two people after looking around on the net. The prices are very good, the breakfast superb. The rooms are well sized and very clean. The owners could not have been more obliging. The display od mecano and trains is super.
We only had a one night stay as we were working in the area, we have got to return next month and booked for a return visit before leaving.
We had long coversations with the owners, who are really good company and I look forward to going back next month. Bob and Len.

My third visit to this excellent venue, my dear friends Cathy & Mel never dissapoint. Alway's a warm welcome. Terrific value, great acccomodation and breakfasts to die for. Short walk from Harbour, Beach, Cinema & Shops. Plenty to see and do, summer or winter. In the words of dear Arnie "I'll be back"

A beautiful view of Paignton. We booked two single en suite rooms (but both had a double bed!) and were very pleased, clean & cosy with very comfy beds. The good thing about the hotel is - it very clean. Cathy and Mel make the place warm and welcome. Talk about the breakfast - excellent, keeps you going till sunset. Hop, step and jump your on the seafront. You have a beautiful view of the sea from the dinning room.....a pleasent way to start your day, with a good breakfast. The GWR can be remembered for its glory in the Great Western Hotel.

Room Tip: Need to find the room facing the seafront...

We had a lovely stay at the Great Western. Our family room was spacious and had a sea view. The building could do with a little tlc here and there, but this didn't really detract from our stay. Our hosts, particularly Cathy, were very welcoming. The breakfasts were lovely and Cathy even offered to buy my daughter's favourite yogurt specially for her. Buckets and spades were supplied for the short walk to the beach and everything was done to make our stay enjoyable. All in all, we had a very good value for money summer break.

I have just returned from a lovely 3 night stay here with my Dad. We booked 2 single en suite rooms (but both had a double bed!) and were very pleased, clean & cosy with very comfy beds. Nicley decorated throughout, and the collection of rail memorabillia was very impressing (we stayed in Paignton for a visit on the steam railway). Lovely garden out front to sit & relax in too. Great filling english breakfast for dad & great veggie option for me. In nice quiet location at the end of the prom, within 10 minute walk to pier, train & bus stations and town, and Cathy & Mel who own it are really freindly and welcoming. A great visit & great value for money.

Only stayed the one night, but this place is situated close to sea front and town which was ideal. We had a very friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble, we would come back again as great value and location. Only very minor comment is the decor is very dated, but if you look past this, it's well worth a try
