Reasonable tearoom, but the Mansion is amazing. Modeled on the Palace of Versaise, this is currently Paignton town hall in all it's baroque opulence. Most visitors go right past on the Torquay road and never know it's there. Hurry up and visit, for the cash strapped council are going to sell it off to be converted into a luxury hotel, so none of the riff raff will be able to see it again.

“Service slow, food OK, cheap”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2012

Visited here whilst at the Oldway Mansion Christmas fair. The management clearly hadn't anticipated or planned for the higher amount of people visiting, and the queue was large; I counted 13 at one point whilst eating my food. There was a cheap £5 for two meal deal available, and a good selection on it; but we went for the cream tea - £5.20 for two scones, clotted cream, jam, and tea for two. This wasn't too expensive, we opted for one plain and one fruited scone. These were served around 15 minutes after ordering, they were warm, quite moist but could have been a little larger and the fruited one could have had more raisins/currants. They were OK but I have definitely had better. The cream was nice as was the jam. Overall it was fine, I would return but not feel like I had to do so. Decor was OK and the mansion itself is very nice.
