“BEST EVER CREAM TEA!”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

I fear shouting it from the rooftops because I want his to be OUR tea shop but that isn't fair! This is without doubt a proper gem of a place. We consider ourselves cream tea veterans! We had the best cream tea ever here though! The place is beautiful and is a joy to sit in, it is one of those places you immediately feel comfortable and relaxed. The service is friendly and welcoming without being over the top. Our little five year old was also made to feel completely welcome what with the lady pushing him in so he was snug at the table. The cream tea is enormous, two beautiful, home-made scones (plain or fruit) with clotted cream and beautiful jam. This is served on a proper cake stand. The tea is leaf tea with beautiful strainers and sand timers for your tea strength. Our son had a lovely mince pie and apple juice. This all came to under a tenner! We had the best time and left feeling full and happy. Hats off to such a great place. We will be returning for more. Spotlessly clean too.

“Makes a visit to Paignton worthwhile ”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

We were looking for a true tearoom, and when we thought Paignton didn't have one we found Victorian Times. Best hot chocolate and home made cakes.

“the BEST coffee in Paignton!”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

This cafe serves absolutely the best coffee in Paignton, by miles. No other cafe touches it! . Ask the staff about their coffee and you'll find out why, they are genuinely passionate about their business! It's also cheaper than a lot of the other cafes.
I bring friends here for cream teas whenever they visit as the quality in this cafe is just so high; everything is handmade and delicious, it is also fabulously presented in really thoughtful ways, our cream teas come on two tier floral cake trays decorated with springs of lavender, for example. Very highly recommended.
Staff are also lovely!

“Simple yet superb”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

Visited today (11/8/14) and was bowled over by how good the place was. The service was superb, the place looked the part (it's not called victorian for no reason) and the value was outstanding.

2 of us had the afternoon tea for 2, which included ample amounts of sandwiches, a large (very large) slice of carrot cake each (other cakes are available for selection) and 2 freshly made fruit scones with clotted cream and home made jam, and all for a scarcely believable £12.95.

There was a slight mishap with the tea (we both ordered different and ended up getting a large one to share) but didn't matter. The waitress/hostess was very apologetic and offered several times to bring us what we originally ordered but we were enjoying the shared one so kept at it.

Can't wait to return and would recommend to anyone!
