“Good Value”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Just got back from a 4 night stay with Gbtours, for the money we paid £119 it was great value. our room was 107 very clean plenty of drawers & hanging space ,very clean had a nice Bathroom /shower.The only drawback was the seagulls would sit on the Flat roof and make a right old racket night & day,not a lot the hotel can do about Nature. The food was good nice a Full English for breakfast ,some people never satisfied and will ask for more than the standard wanting extra this and that. The evening meals were good you had a choice of 3 things for each course ,which you have to select at breakfast ,ready for evening. We had entertainment every evening with some very good entertainers Chris Chaplin ( Love You ) was brill, you start the evening with Bingo at 8.30,the caller being the Lovely barmaid. We had trips out to Looe,Polperro & Brixham, the added bonus was the weather was great. All the Staff were friendly and helpful .Yes some people had their gripes but overall for the Money paid it was great ,if you want better pay more and go to a 5star.well done Torbay good Value

Room Tip: We had 107

Oh dearYou get woken up by the bin men, emptying glass bottles!
Our room smelt of smoke!
Bonfires being lit at the
back of the building! !This meant we couldn't open our window.
On a hot sunny a day !

We stayed with a party of eighteen and we were quite happy with our room the food and the service although others with us were not.although the rooms have been re-furnished some seem to need a bit more TLC some were cleaned better than others we we lucky had a good cleaner others didn't as I said we were happy and Maluku go back.another moan was lack of staff after dinner if the barmaid was calling bingo you couldn't get a drink or any one in reception but then this happens a lot these days so as to keep costs down.As I've said before you pays your money and make your choice Use trip advisor and get a few clues

The staff were so friendly on 4 July when we walked in to make our booking for the night of 28 August 2014 that we thought we would pay up in full. No advance booking discount was offered.
On 11 July we went in to cancel our booking because of events beyond our control. We also asked for some sort of refund.
The staff were once again extremely friendly but had to consult the manageress. This woman was extremely unfriendly and sarcastically refused any sort of refund despite being given six weeks notice.
We have been to the hotel several times but only ever seen one guest, which may account for them being so tight with our refund. In our opinion it approaches theft .

we are a group of elderly people we travelled with dunwoods travel nuneaton, on arrrival i booked all ground floor rooms for us, so one 89year old was situated upstairs when we said this was no good we were told thats all they have. the bathrooms were dirty we had a en suite room 2,the curtains were dirty the radiator was rusty and the whole place needed a good clean. no cleaner was ever seen throughout our 4 day stay july 7th=11th.the food was not edible and alot of other people were complaining in the restaurant- the so called roast potatoes came out burnt and we could not even cut them , the soup which was supposed to be vegetable we could not find any veg in it it tasted of nothing despite putting loads of salt and pepper in it.fish dish was frozen and we complained to the manage ment and asked if the chef was trained she said yes i said he needs to go back to catering school. the staff was run ragged not enough staff bar area one had to serve at the bar and run the bingo and collect glasses , i know now that this hotel is under refurbishment which has been going on over two years , but it decor is a mish mash and the tea and coffee tasted terrible after complaining the last morning they brought us a pot of boiled water and some decent teabags.so if you a looking for a hotel in paington stay away from this one because it,s disgusting THE HOTEL INSPECTOR NEEDS TO VISIT THIS ONE HOLTS PARTY FROM NUNEATON.

We went for a 4 day GB tour and stayed in this hotel. The food was good and hot and friendly waiting staff. Comfortable clean bed and a warm room. BUT the cleanliness in room 42 was shocking. The net curtain was mildew, the skirting board under the window where a chest of drawers stood hadn't been pulled out and cleaned, it was mucky and mouldy. the biggest shock was the dirt under the taps which you couldn't see standing at the sink. I removed a piece and left it on the sink thinking when the maid came she would investigate further seeing that but that piece of dirt was removed and the rest was still under the tap. When I mentioned it to another couple they said their taps were mucky too. I know I could have complained which had we stayed there longer we would have done. People say the trip is good for the money which it is, but the bedrooms need to be clean.

Room Tip: There were 3 rooms at the end of that corridor and it was quiet but room 42 wasn't up to scratch
