Myself my wife and son have just recently returned from another few days at The Redcliffe Hotel and once again it was exactly as we have come to expect. We had specifically booked the family room with adjoining bedrooms on the front (room 103 but don't tell everyone !) and it was exactly as we had remembered. Fantastic views, the sound of the sea lapping on the shore, and the smell of the salt sea air - brilliant. The seagulls are noisy when they wake up but that's nature for you.
We had intended eating out on a few nights but as usual decided against it and went for the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast option. We are never disappointed with the choices on the menu and there is always plenty of food which is well cooked and delicious. Breakfast is also freshly prepared and there is a good choice of juices, cereals, fruit etc.
The staff some of whom have been there for many years are very helpful and chatty, and make you feel very welcome. The hotel is in a fantastic location and very centrally located for all the Torbay attractions. You actually cannot get any closer to the sea you are literally on the beach.
The facilities are very good, with the indoor and outdoor pools, so no matter what the weather throws at you there is always a place for a swim. There is also table tennis, pool, gymnasium, steam room/sauna, jacuzzi, putting green (of sorts), large terrace overlooking the sea, fantastic ballroom dance floor (if thats your thing) and the hotel even has its own secret passage which goes down underground to the beach, this is accessible from the bar when the tide is out that is. We have stayed here several times in the past and we will be back again, its almost like its become part of our family tradition now to go to Devon for a few days but when we say 'go to Devon' we actually mean go and stay at the Redcliffe.
If you want a corporate business 'box' type hotel this maybe isn't for you but if you want somewhere relaxed but which has retained some of the 'traditional' type service and feel, which serves good food, and is in a great location you would have to look hard to find anywhere more suitable.
By the way the Wi - Fi connection is pretty poor so don't expect to be downloading much when you are there, but just think of it like this ' Switch the tablet off, put it down, and go for a walk along the beach, the business will still be there when you get back, its a much better and healthier option for you, and you will work up an appetite for your dinner '
All in all a great break again and cannot wait to get back down there.
Thanks to everyone at our Devon 'second home' ;0)

I have just got back from a 4 day holiday in this hotel. This hotel is perfect for my needs. It has a lovely view of the Torbay inlet with Torquay to the left and Brixham to the right. The whole area is pretty and easy to move around by car or local transport, so much to do. The rooms in the hotel are clean and comfortable some have lovely views. The leisure amenities are good indoor and outdoor pools with sauna steam room and spa bath. Small gym, with reasonable equipment all very good for downtimes. All this and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. Hope to return again soon.

Room Tip: request a seaview amazing and entertaining

Me and my Husband got married here in August 2012. We were looked after so much, the staff were helpful and Derek was brilliant, he walked us through the whole day and kept the whole day running smoothly. We couldn't have asked for more, it was a beautiful day and we will always remember. The food is also lovely, we have been back already for a meal at Easter, and will definitely be returning. :)

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite is beautiful and worth every penny. Wish we could have had another night!

I went for a weekend break in May, always a little cautious about seaside hotels.
What a revelation!! A well appointed, airy room with a view to Torquay; polite and extremely helpful staff and a varied menu with affordable wine.
Despite being an old building, which are notoriously difficult to clean, the house keeping was outstanding. Housekeeper should note that my towels were changed despite my having hung them up, to avoid unnecessary laundry.
Altogether a very pleasant stay in a well run hotel.
