Absolutely superb from beginning to end, silver service, varied menu, fabulous sea view all for an astonishing £15 per person! Hasn't let us down yet, the staff work fabulously together, each knowing their role, customers made to feel very at ease

This hotel was a very good choice for my short break. Although built many years ago, it was well maintained, clean and tidy and had all the facilities the modern traveller needs.
The staff were very helpful; nothing was too much trouble, and what few snags that were encountered were promptly sorted out.
Food was plentiful and five star. Prices in the bar were very reasonable for a hotel.
The hotel has WiFi throughout, but I found coverage was quite patchy in places, and undetectable in my room on the first floor. The Management did tell me that it had only recently been installed, and that teething troubles were still occurring.
There is entertainment in the Ballroom alongside the bar on many evenings.
The sea view is expansive and some memorable evenings were spent on the balcony as the sun set. One to return to if I am in the area again.

My 4th visit to this hotel and it gets better. New manager in the restaurant (Carl) always got a smile on his face and always came to see if everything was okay with the meal - he had 2 days off mid week and we certainly missed him. Our wine waiter Daniel, I think my wife fell in love with his accent. Very professional and polite. Thank you to Claire and Sophie down in the leisure complex, it is so nice to put names to people and they take the time to make conversation with you. We had the pleasure of listening to Rhea Waddingham a new female singer in the Torbay area who sang some lovely songs from the London shows and some songs of Whitney Houston, I can certainly recommend her if you get the chance to see her in the near future.
Finally the reception staff, from the time I booked to the time we left, were very professional and helpful, what more can I say except we will see you next year if not sooner.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view if you can get in early, but the other rooms that we have had have been very good...

We have just had a dancing break with 100 other dancers and have to say what a lovely hotel this is for it. The ballroom and floor are first rate. It's a very well run hotel with good sound principles of good old fashioned service. Sure its a bit aged but in a good way, so for some it may not get A or B ratings, but from me it gets loads of C ratings. I don't want all chrome and plastic and plate glass and minimalistic decorations. I like style and this place has that.

It has.....
Character
Customer care at all levels
Cleanliness (rooms and public areas)
Cooking excellence (on quality and choice)
Commercial good sense of pricing (both food and drink)
Convenience (in location)

They are changing the sheets and blankets bedding to duvets which is a sound move

Like a lot of other contributors we found ALL the staff to be excellent in their approach and that's a testimony to the owners and managing staff

Many of our dance group go back time after time and several times a year.

However it's not just for wrinklies, because with the gardens, pools, access to the beach etc etc its good for families as well.

Well worth a look guys

Room Tip: Try and get the sea views of which there are many as the vista is lovely. Some have small balconies...

What a lovely old hotel. Good facilities for a morning swim and sauna, Very attentive staff and of course wonderful views over Torbay... Only Gripe I had was one of the duty managers had a moan at me saying I was smoking in my room, Wouldn't be such a bad thing if I smoked !! Only other let down was the food in the evening.. Great service, Your wine from previous evening is waiting at table but the management and chefs need to put their heads together to up the standard of food..

Room Tip: Just make sure you get one with a sea view and if you smoke... Not in the room please !!!!
