“Hollywood Hills - luxury escape close to Holywood & Belfast”
Reviewed 18 August 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We stayed in the lower cottage for four nights - we regularly visit family in Northern Ireland (from Scotland) - this time we were over for a family wedding in Holywood and Belfast, and needed some decent rented accommodation (for myself, my husband and our 10 year old daughter).

Very tranquil setting - lovely views and calm, peaceful environs.

Our host, Wendy, was very easy to contact and stayed in touch regularly on the lead up to our stay. She was extremely helpful and accommodating - we didn't arrive until very late evening on the Thursday, but it was no worries! Wendy was there to greet us and show us around the property - she was very welcoming and explained succinctly how how everything worked, which was great as we were really tired after our journey!

A very generous and very much appreciated welcome basket awaited us on the kitchen shelf (!) filled to the brim with a tasty selection of tea, coffee, buns, bread, chocolate, crisps, pancakes, jam...with fresh milk and butter in the fridge...and there was even a box of lovely fresh eggs from the roaming chickens out the back! ...not what most hosts might offer (!) - so it was a lovely, luxury, personal touch by Wendy - and sustained the three of us really well throughout our stay, as we were out and about a lot for main meals...Wendy's treats kept us going!!

Nice modern build with tasteful decor and furniture; featuring all mod cons - lovely, spacious property - our daughter loved her bright, airy twin room with the lovely colourful patterned duvet covers and little walk in wardrobe (!) which encouraged her to unpack her suitcase (!)

Good storage space all round for unpacking and laying out belongings for ease of access.

The whole place was immaculately clean and tidy (and I'm really fussy!)

Good facilities for ironing and leisure - books and games available - just alongside our front door in a spacious utility room where we could launder clothes if needed.

Would definitely recommend this property to couples or families wanting something special a wee bit off the beaten track but also close (5-10 mins drive) to Holywood and (20-30 mins) Belfast - we would definitely like to stay here again. Thanks Wendy!

Thank you so, so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and helpful review of your stay in Ballydavey Cottage. We are so glad you found the cottage bright, airy and most importantly 'immaculately clean' with everything you needed for your holiday. Chuffed you enjoyed the welcome basket and fresh free range eggs! We'd love to welcome you all back again to Holywood Hill. Take care. David and Wendy

“Absolutely perfect!”
Reviewed 20 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We stayed here for a family holiday. My Dad had stayed before and spoke so highly of Holywood Hill Country Cottages that we were worried that he'd built up our expectations! We were not at all disappointed! The accommodation was spotless and there was a lovely selection of snacks and essentials (tea, coffee etc.) on arrival. We absolutely loved the fresh eggs that were available daily too.
The accommodation is positioned in a beautiful, serene spot with such wonderful views. If I could wake up to those views alone every day....! It's close enough to what you may want to visit if you have a car and it felt very private. (We had both the upstairs and the downstairs apartments so we felt like it was ours, if only for a few days!)
I would highly recommend anyone to stay here and I thank Wendy and Dave for making our stay so wonderful.

What a really really lovely review. We do look forward to your Dad and his brother and sister visiting each summer. It was lovely that he brought his family all over this time to celebrate his special birthday. We're delighted that the cottages lived up to your expectations and you enjoyed the peacefulness and the views. Thanks for your helpful review and kind words. David and Wendy

Absolutely fantastic!
We stayed here for a family wedding occupying both cottages and were delighted with all aspects. Wendy was a joy to deal with from our initial booking right up to the day we left. The cottages and surrounding area completely exceeded all our expectations and helped to make this an incredibly memorable trip. We have never stayed in accommodation so well equipped, we could honestly have arrived just with our clothes and been fine for the week, even with a 3 year old as Wendy had everything he needed ready including toys!!
The location is also perfect, whilst enjoying superb views and the tranquility of the wonderful countryside we were only a 15-20 min drive into the heart of Belfast.
We would whole heartedly recommend this accommodation to anyone.

Enjoyed a memorable time once again at this first class venue. Wendy and David once again had everything ready and prepared and little Ayla who is only 20 months old even had her own playhouse outside together with the chickens which she loved. The accommodation and facilities are first class and everywhere is absolutely spotless. My wife, son, daughter, son in law, daughter in law and of course little Ayla had a great time. Thanks to Holywood Hill Cottages for a smashing 70th Birthday
I am already looking forward to returning in July with my brother and sister.

“Stunning views , great location for business or leisure.”
Reviewed 20 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Excellent well equipped accommodation. Nothing was missing and there was a utility room that was like Aladdin's cave. The welcome basket with home baking and fresh laid eggs was a wonderful surprise , as was the constant supply of eggs through the week. Energetic walk into Holywood and back but well worth it -no need to go to a gym.Woodland walk across the road. Owners are extremely helpful but also respect your privacy.Fantastic views across the water just lying in bed.Great value for money.
