Glad to be back after they closed for January holidays. The new menu looks like we will be back very soon as there where so many nice sounding things to choose from.
Four adults and a 2 year old only booked 30min before and they had a high chair with plastic knife and fork for the wee one all set at the table. It was busy but they had plenty of happy staff on to help. I had the bacon and black pudding salad to start which was light and fresh and very tasty. My mother in law had the goats cheese which she raved about but the star of the show was the Sunday roast beef! Wow it was of the highest order, nice pink meat and plenty of it, rich dark gravy bang full of flavour. Yorkshire pudding to die for, better than my Yorkshire gran used to make. The veg had real attention to detail which made the plate wow especially the still crunchy broccoli and green beans cooked with subtle garlic flavour.
The new puddings went down very well, my pregnant wife has a rather sweet tooth at the moment and loved the choc brownie with salted caramel and clotted creme. I was lucky enough to get a try and instantly became jealous.
They really have a very family friendly atmosphere here and it's well worth escaping the hubbub of the city for the short drive down. We had a lovely walk up the riverside afterwards to work off some of the pudding.
