“Another lovely lunch at our favourite restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2012

As it was a lovely day on Saturday we 'phoned The Rocks and booked a lovely table for lunch.

As usual Jimmie and Nichola were so attentive to us and we had a lovely view out to sea (the table was right at the window) and were lucky to see a cruise ship pass by.

The menu was extensive and it is always difficult to choose from.

We both opted for the soup of the day plus a huge basket of home made bread and my husband poached salmon with a tier of rice and I took battered cod and wedge potatoes plus veg.

Unfortunately we were too full for the dessert but had coffee and liquers and home made fudge.

Washed down with a bottle of sauvignon blanc.

The weather was still good therefore we took the dog down the cliff path to the beach - the tide was calm and he enjoyed his doggy bag as per usual.

Once more we cannot fault the food and service at this lovely restaurant.

Thanks Jimmie and Nichola and all staff for the attentive service.

Room Tip: Ask for a window table looking out to the sea and beach

lunch was lovely, the fire was on too. But the best bit was the staff as we sneaked in at 1.59pm they were more than happy to serve us without any rush. The gorgeous bread was refilled as soon as we emptied it( we were starving) and the coffee cup at the end of the meal was replenished as soon as it looked like we had finished. We will return. thank you

We stayed at the Rocks in October 2011. This was the third time we have stayed here and now make it a yearly trip. All the rooms are fabulous but if you want a special treat book the luxury room, it has a jacuzzi bath. Book at table in the restaurant for a most gorgeous meal then all you have to do is crawl upstairs to bed. Then roll down stairs in the morning for the best breakfast you will ever have. I dream about the dressed crab all year and am never disappointed. Have the haggis with your breakfast it is so tasty. The staff are superb. A telephone booking followed by a confirmation e mail/letter will secure your room. All very easy and every efficient. The town is worth a visit or go to North Berwick to the Bird Centre it is really interesting. Bass Rock trips are also available during selected months in the year. That is awesome, up close and personal with a gannet. Get a taxi out of the town and follow the John Muir Way back to the hotel. Once you visit The Rocks you will return again and again. The quality and service are fabulous and the prices are so reasonable for what is given in return. The whiskey shelf is also varied and well stocked. Give yourself a treat and book today. There is a locaL swimming pool within a three minute walk. We did not go it but it looks popular and modern. Your fitness centre is the nearby golf and the John Muir Way get fir in the fresh Scottish outdoors.

Room Tip: Luxury room, has a sea view, a balcony where you can drink your sundowner, a jacuzzi bath which als...

A work trip and a lttle wary of the sound of Dunbar - but the hotel was great, nice place, fabolous location and views over the sea, cracking breakfast and a good hearty dinner. Well done chaps - I'd come back here for a holiday

Reading the reviews, and with the limited accommodation in Dunbar, we thought we would book a room for November. I enquired via email and got a basic response and I then called the Rocks and spoke to a lady who sounded as if I were an inconvenient interruption. She stated the cost of the cheapest room and didn't offer information on any of the others. I asked what other rooms she had. as we wanted to stay in the nicest one we could, with a lovely view. I really didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling during this conversation as she really wasn't too happy to assist me more than was necessary. So, confirming the room I offered my credit card details to hold it but this was declined. I then emailed the hotel to confirm the room - but I got no response. So, rather than turn up in Dunbar, with no reservation, hoping that the room would be there for us, we will be staying in Edinburgh and popping down to visit relatives. If her conversation with us was an indicator of service and hospitality, I think we will give the Rocks a miss.
