We stayed at the Royal Mackintosh Hotel for a couple of nights on a B&B deal.
Our room was quite large, and had enormous windows which meant there was plenty of light and we could also enjoy the sea breeze. One thing we found a little strange was the arrangement of some of the furniture; the full length mirror was partially obscured by a desk which could have been placed against another wall in order to leave the mirror free of obstruction and the wardrobe could have swapped places with the small table that had the kettle on it, rather than standing in a sort of no man's land near the bed.
However, the bed was comfortable and there was a sofa which looked like it expanded into a bed if needed for families. There was a decent hairdryer provided in the room and an extra heater in the wardrobe too. The en suite was also nice and light and the shower was good, although it would have been nice if there had been a shelf to put toothbrushes etc on (it's not always nice to have to leave things on the sink by the taps).
The breakfasts were okay and the service was qiute good. The bar seemed popular and there was seating outside too.
Check in and out was efficient and the staff were friendly.
There are lots of hotels in Dunbar and I think we'd be tempted into trying one of them rather than returning to the Royal Mackintosh in the future. Having said that, this wasn't a bad place to stay and certainly other travellers seem to have enjoyed the food and accommodation.
