We stayed for one night here and found the staff and the place to be welcoming and friendly, the breakfast was lovely and the room was warm and freshly decorated. good location for a weekend break. walking distance to the town but a quiet road.

Just spent a lovely weekend on the Isle of Wight at this hotel. Very welcoming staff. Lovely cooked breakfast.
The entrance hall, dining room and lounge areas of the hotel seem to have all been recently updated and were a lovely feature.
However, the bedrooms are a bit tired.... The duvet was a bit on the skimpy side. The shower in our bedroom was so grubby that I chose not to use it but all-over wash instead. Pity the bathroom was such a let down.

Room Tip: Check on the bathroom first!

We (6 of us)have just spent 2 nights on the Isle of Wight in a wonderful small hotel in Shanklin, called Somerton Lodge Hotel. Very welcoming, excellent clean rooms a bit dated but absolutely fine, comfortable beds and with tea and coffee facilities, and en-suites, hair dryer etc. Lovely breakfast, freshly cooked and nothing too much trouble - bar facilities with no hassle and a quiet location a short distance from town with parking at the rear. We did not have evening meals so can't comment on that. Everything with a lovely smile.

A perfect place for a romantic voyage...
Service was great and room very confortable!!!

I spent there 3 days with my wife and the persons at the desk were very kind in giving their advise on the nearby attractions we could visit.

Food was simply great and the availability of a parking space in the back of the hotel was very comfortable.

The position is very close to the center of Shanklin, at five minutes walking.
Nights were very silent and the place is simply lovely!

Highly recommended!

Spent 3 nights here with my granddaughter on a short break. Our room (16) was small, but was fine for a short stay the view wasn't great, overlooked the car park and a large shed, but one had to look beyond this to the further view of this lovely island. It was a bit short on storage space, only a few hanger in the wardrobe, and not much drawer space, my granddaughter decided it was easier to live out of her suitcase! The en suite was small but sufficed, but would say the shower head could do with de-scaling as the pressure was poor, and there was black mould around the tray, which, with a decent mould remover, could have been sorted. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. Clean towels were provided every day. Breakfast was really nice and set us both up for a day of exploring the Island. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only down side was the car park, not a lot of room for manouvering and a very steep drop with only a small wall at the edge. The hotel was full, so therefore so was the car park, and if you were late back there wasn't a lot of space. I gave up after the first night and left my car in a side turning up the road. I would come back for a short break, but wouldn't consider for a longer stay, and most definitely wouldn't use the car park.

Room Tip: Possibly ask for a room at the front of the hotel.

This is the second time that we have stayed here and the staff are still very friendly and helpful. Last time we stayed the food was excellent, this time although very good, not quite as good as before, nevertheless very good value. Our bed could have done with a new mattress but was acceptable. We will definately stay here again

Room Tip: We have used three rooms so far and all are acceptable. The hotel is not noisy

We had never been to the island and so used this hotel as a base, while it is not a 5* place to stay it is very nice, the room we had was a bit 80's but everything in it was new, the shower was a bit small but your not in there long. you can make yourself a cuppa and watch telly if you want to, we had three nights in Sept and did most of the island in that time.
The food was good and staff very nice (if a little underdressed ) however i did ask if it was poss for us to have a dark room as i am a light sleeper and we were given one with Three big bay windows ! with cream curtins. who needs sleep anyway..........................

Room Tip: 10 and 11 are over the telly room so not much noise after 11ish.
