The hotel itself is of old décor but newly refurbished. We paid extra for the sea view room which was extremely clean and spacious. The hotel staff, especially Julie and Tim , were extremely accommodating and helpful. Everything we asked for was seen to immediately and we had a very hassle free time. We had a wonderful time for the three nights we were there and had very little to complain about. We were served quickly at dinner and breakfast and the swimming and hot tub were organised straight away for us. The only small negative side of the holiday was the breakfast time 8:00-9:30am, I am not a lazy person but whilst on holiday I don't like to wake up too early and it takes me awhile to wake up fully so it was too of an early start than I would of liked. The rooms are also not very sound proof and we were woken up on several occasions at night and in the mornings with doors slamming and people nattering.
The vegetarian dinner options although we were highly impressed of the number of choices available, unfortunately most of the choices were either soup or cheese based (recommend hotel revise menu). Breakfast however was a lot better with vegetarian breakfast and croissants. Also the sauna was out of service at the time of our visit which was disappointing however the hot tubs(inside and out) were amazing ....The pros out weigh the Cons by far and definitely recommend this hotel and the staff do it justice. Written by two ladies of 33 and 29.

Room Tip: sea view ask for a room for three if the same price as a double

Thank you for taking the time to feedback following your recent stay at Luccombe Manor. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We will most certainly pass on your comments to the chef regarding the vegetarian options for dinner but glad that you enjoyed the breakfast options. I'm pleased to hear you found the staff helpful and can advise that the sauna will be in working order sometime soon but in the meantime the sauna at the adjacent sister hotel Luccombe Hall and in Sandown at Meville Hall is available. We do hope that you will come and stay with us again in the future.

Just returned from Luccombe Manor. On the travelzoo package (wasn't everybody?), in a side facing king room for 2 adults plus a well behaved chocolate lab.

Overall, it was a very relaxing stay and whilst yes you could make comments on the slightly old fashioned decor, this was what we expected and to be honest what we came for. We had stayed in a 5 star Westin the week before, but we enjoyed this hotel stay easily as much.

On the plus side, all staff were great from check in to restaurant. Breakfast good and 3 course dinner particularly good. We would never typically include dinner - and had planned to eat out for one night - but this did not happen since the food and Rioja was so good. Room decor was ok - more modern than I was expecting - and bed was big and comfy. Shower in the bathroom was great and towels/linen all good. The toiletries were particularly excellent.

Loved the hotel cliff top location which was great for a beach walk to Sandown and beyond, close to Old and New Shanklin, good for the Coastal path to Ventnor - so kept the dog tired. Finally, we typically drank in the Fisherman Cottage at the bottom of the 150 or so steps, which was nice traditional place for a beer.

On the negative side, the room was a little small for the three of us plus a medium dog bed and luggage. Also it was a tad noisy in the morning since it was above the kitchen and whilst we knew there was no view, there was an ugly pile of rubbish in clear view and think this could be moved to help matters.

But the negatives were far outweighed by the positives and we would recommend the hotel and travelzoo package to all. In summary, it is a well located, very well run and staffed hotel that ticks all the boxes for people visiting the IOW - which is a bit of a throw back to the good old days in itself. If you want all mod cons, trendy open plan rooms, then this will not be for you, but if you want to feel well looked after and close to lots of great walks, beaches and pubs, then this is for you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such comprehensive feedback and for choosing Luccombe Manor as your place to stay whilst on the Isle of Wight. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The location is simply fabulous and I'm glad you found the easy access to the beach, walks and pubs so convenient with your gorgeous lab to exercise.
I'm sorry that your outlook was spoilt by the rubbish and I will see that this is moved.
I do hope that you will find time in the future to visit us again.
Thank you.

Just returned home from a very pleasant holiday at the Luccombe Manor. The location of the hotel is very good,in a nice quiet area above Shanklin Chine with access to the coastal path and beach, albeit a set of steep steps to the beach. The hotel was very comfortable, our room and ensuite were fresh and very clean, adequate space for my wife and me.
We were on an autumn special deal, which included the ferry and half board accommodation, plus a cream tea on arrival, (which turned out to include scones and cake, in our case!!) the staff were all very nice, polite, helpful and gave good and efficient service, especially the two lads in the restaurant. The food, both at breakfast and evening meals, was of good quality and the choices enabled us to have something different each night, of course breakfast has to be Full English!! Of which I am an expert, having cooked it every weekend for my family for the past ?? Many years!! The manor did not disappoint in this area.
Being a bitter drinker, I did not partake of the Hotel priced (£3.60 pint) Tetley beer, but instead we made the short walk to the village, where there are pubs. We found that King Harry's bar had both the best selection of good beers and was marginally cheaper then the others. Second place would go to the Village Inn, who had Doombar on tap.
We are planning to go back, once the Swiss Cottage is opened at Osbourne House and will certainly consider the Luccombe Manor as our base.

Room Tip: A sea view room would be nice but not essential.

The hotel is in a nice location on a clifftop with nice views, a short walk from Shanklin's old village. The neighborhood is very quiet and pleasant. The hotel itself could be beautiful but at this stage the decor looks a bit dated. The blood red carpet in the hall is an eyesore. Our room had nice views but looked old fashioned with a shoebox size bathroom. The non slip mat in the shower was mouldy which is not a big deal but we had paid around £200 per night for the room so expected better. The breakfast was mediocre and we had to stand in line for a while in front of the overcrowded toasting machine. The pool was nice and heated. The hot tub was nice to have but never came on and we had to share the space with dead flies. Overall it could really be a great hotel given the location but it felt tired and overpriced instead.

This was our second stay here and we would certainly return again. Rooms, food and staff all excellent and the the location is superb although the car park could do with proper marking to maximise its potential.

The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Met by Julie on arrival, a warm welcome and although we were early for our check in she organised a pot of coffee and a comfortable wait in the lounge.

Charlotte and Richard were great, really looking after us during service at Breakfast and Dinner, made us feel special and always had a smile, we saw them, morning, noon and night, they were obviously working very hard and long hours but this didn't stop them being amazing.

Barry always came and had a word checking that all was well and Jackie on reception was always a pleasure, booking our table for dinner and helping with any of our needs.

I don't know the chef's name but I take my hat off to him, the food far exceeded our expectations, great portions, great choice, always hot and well presented. 10/10

Thank you to all off you, we had a wonderful 4 night stay :)

We love this hotel and have been many times. The view alone would be worth the trip but the friendly, helpful and courteous staff, the great breakfasts - very good food overall, comfortable rooms etc all add to its charms. The location is excellent with buses at end of road for non-drivers - IOW is lovely and a journey with views from the top of the bus - fab. Free use of pool etc at Luccombe Hall - five minutes walk - in fact next door. Wonderful cliff top walks. Absolutely love it - just hope it doesn't change!
