Just returned from Daish's Hotel on the Isle of Wight - what a lovely location and hotel!
Arrived at the hotel at 4pm to a warm welcome from the manager and reception staff. Our cases arrived quickly to our room which was very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, well served and presented. The entertainment each night was varied with a bit of something for everybody. The hotel is in a great location with bus stops outside the hotel to take you anywhere on the beautiful island. Within walking distance is the old village, Shanklin town and the beach with a lovely walk along the prom to Sandown (..cream tea on the way...!!!). I could not fault David, the manager or any of the staff. They were all so helpful and friendly. Joanna at reception went beyond the call of duty sorting a personal problem for me. I am sure we will be back again! Do not go with the minority of reviews go with the majority!

Just returned from Holiday in Shanklin from 10th to 14th June. Greeted by Hi De Hi Manager. Very old fashioned decor. Rooms "cosy". Meals awful and a non-smiling waiter. Table cloths dirty. Swimming Pool no showers. The Hotel is run for the convenience of the Staff and not the Visitors.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

We find this review very unjust.
We are a successful coaching hotel that's been running for over 30 years and we pride ourselves on our good food and friendly hospitality. Some of our awards include 2012 Group Travel awards:Most friendly Hotel Group/Chain and we were recently nominated for most friendly hotel.
Over the years, the comments we have received regarding our staff have been nothing but complimentary so we are surprised by your view.

I'm sorry that you thought I was non committal, but as I explained we had no other rooms to offer you. Apart from that i'm glad that you enjoyed the hotel and staff. With regard to parking yes there are 4 designated car parking spaces in the top car park but we have additional car parking spaces at the back of the hotel when needed. I hope this hasn't put you off returning to us.

Just returned from Shanklin, stayed June 8th – 14th. Good journey down, everything on time. Check in was speedy and efficient. We had a ground floor room which was very handy. Room service was very good. But like most parts of the hotel, it needs some painting. The building is an old building, and old buildings take more looking after, this one needs some attention. Leaking sky lights in the Main bar / cabaret lounge means there is a wet carpet. Cob webs over the stage area. Lots of areas where there are dead light bulbs. Lots of areas that need paint touch up. Excellent service in the Dining Room, my wife is gluten / wheat intolerant, but it seemed no trouble to make gravy or sauces with gluten free ingredients. Main meals were very good, but breakfast was a little disappointing. Bar staff were always polite and helpful. Bar prices are reasonable, £3 for a pint of John Smiths bitter. Bingo tickets are expensive at £1 per ticket. The evening entertainment was very good on Saturday / Sunday / Monday. Tuesday was ok but Wednesday and Thursday was very poor. Both acts are way past their best. Too many singers singing the same songs. There is a limit to how many times you can listen to Amarillo. Was not looking forward to the return journey as we heard that Nash’s of Birmingham, were bringing us back. Previous nightmare return journey from The Sands, Bournemouth, in March with Nash’s. However, this time, the coach was equal to Daish’s standard and with a very courteous driver. We even had a DVD of Only Fools & Horses on. After previous stays at this hotel, we have always rated it as number 1 in the Daish’s group. However, after this stay, we think there is a possibility it will slip to number 2 or even number 3, depends on our stay at Newquay in September and Eastbourne in November. We will see!

Glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your comments. As you can appreciate it is a very old building and we are constantly re-furbishing and striving to keep the lovely hotel up to standard.
