Returned for another short break at the Hambledon and pleased to say everything is still excellent. The food was very well prepared and tasted delicious, the cleanliness of the rooms could not be faulted and the hosts, Jackie & Bill were their usual lovely selves who helped to make our stay as efficient and comfortable as possible. Can't wait for next time, thanks for a great stay!

Although you couldn’t fault Bill and Jackie’s friendliness, efficiency (they booked the ferries) and cleanliness (spotless) of The Hambledon we felt overwhelmed during our stay by a large group of walkers staying full board.

They dominated breakfast and the lobby with intrusive chatty and noisy organisation. I have nothing against walkers but do we have to hear time after time who’s going to catch the 9.45 bus and who’s going to catch the 10.15 bus.

The Hambledon has a decent car park and is very conveniently situated between the High Street (loads of eating establishments); the beach (steep walk or modern lift, cost £1 one way) and Shanklin Chine (a must see – walk down from the top) but note that the lift stops around 10pm.

We had a 3 day B&B and Eve. Meal stay.
A friendly small hotel run by Bill &Jackie who are good hosts.
Our double room on the ground floor was on the small side but perfectly adequate for us and although facing the road we did not experience any noise or night disturbance.
The food was very good all freshly cooked. You pre-select your evening meals and breakfast.and there was a good choice during our stay.
Easy walking to the esplanade and town.
Would agree with the general reviews reflected on Trip Advisor which are positive about this hotel and deserved.

The owners of the hotel Bill and Jackie could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they do go the extra mile to help with information and tips. We had a half board package and on the whole it was very good value for money. Our room was small but was adequate for what we wanted, a short break. Bill booked the ferry crossing as well so extra marks on that score. Would go again. The hotel specializes in walking breaks and we did one which was lovely. Located near the town centre of Shanklin so shops are not far away.

My 2 children and I have just returned from a few days in Shanklin and we had a fantastic time. Bill and Jackie are the perfect hosts and all the staff are friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We were made to feel very much at home. We had a beautiful room with sea views and many of the guests are those returning. It is a true find. Location couldn't be better; a short walk from both the beach and the town. We were only sad that we couldn't stay longer - but hopefully we will be able to go back very soon.

Arrived back home yesterday after yet another wonderful time at the Hambledon. As always we were cosseted from the moment we arrived. Everything is top notch with the rooms, lounge and bar all spotless and comfortable. Don't go there if you are concerned about you waist line unless you are very strong willed. The staff are all friendly and efficient. Jackie and Bill are a mine of information about the Island and its facilities, and will go out of their way to help you make the most of your stay. Size does matter - you just do not get this service in large chain hotels. Everyone is made welcome and that is why nearly everyone you meet there has stayed at least once before. That says it all.
