The Good.........

Location - walkable to town, beach & station
Staff - very friendly
Bed - was comfortable

The Bad..........

Room was disappointing. Premier rooms only give you a side view of the sea, nothing else. It was very basic and needed updating. For a premier room I would have expected extra touches such as fridge, decent Tv etc..

Breakfast - Was totally waitress led, nothing was out for you to choose. You have to ask for everything. We thought that the food was freshly cooked to order due to this but it was obvious that it wasn't. Your order came out of the kitchen within minutes, not long enough to fry an egg and certainly tasted like it had been sitting around, and the toast was cold.

On the whole it was comfortable enough but certainly wasn't anything special

Very friendly welcome and friendliness throughout our stay. Decor is old-fashioned, but this is by design not neglect, given the average age of clientele. Tremendous effort has been put into maintenance and cleaning - our room and all public areas were spotless.

The sea-view room was huge and comfortable. Bathroom was very basic, but again spotlessly clean. What more do you need in a bathroom?!

Breakfast was traditional British seaside, but fast, friendly service was a pleasure.

Recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - the higher, the better!

This family run hotel is very friendly, rooms clean and tidy, the food excelent, great to be served at table by friendly and professional staff. Situated on cliff top overlooking the sea. Certainly would recommend it and without hessitation pay a return visit.

We have just returned from a week-end break at The Channel View Hotel.Being in the Hotel industry myself,I always suspect all the blurb hotels give you.well I was wronge. Our week-end at The Channel View Hotel was fantastic. All 8 of us really enjoyed our time at this hotel. The welcome was very warm and personal, we were then shown to oue rooms which were all excellent,in these were two premier plus rooms and one premier family room all with seaview. The meals were first class, plenty to eat with a ,good choice. All in all a very happy and pleasant stay .I do not usually return to hotels but The Channel View may b e seeing me again. Thanks to all.

We were very impressed by The Channel View Hotel when we stayed here very recently. The staff are first rate and can't do enough for you. The food, particularly breakfast, was very good and our bedroom was dual aspect, large and very well appointed with sea views. The service at breakfast and dinner was first class. The whole hotel is clean and very well decorated. It's also in a very pleasant, raised position, overlooking the Esplanade and extremely close to the sandy beach. There are some amusements further down, towards the middle and end of the Esplanade if you so desire. We would certainly stay at the Channel View again. One thing we would have preferred would be to have had the hotel bar in the front of the hotel in one of the bright and airy lounges. We thought it's position in the dancing area of the hotel with no windows and artificially lit wasn't that attractive and we didn't really want to sit down there.
