“August bank holiday”

We have stayed at the Channel View for a good many years and always find it welcoming and accommodating except for the rather surly bar man who has also been there the same number of years that we have.

MyHusband and I spent two nights at the Channel VIew for Half Term with our three children. (12,10 & 2 Years).
The Hotel was spotlessy clean throughout. Staff were very freindly and helpful and the Pool Facilities were great. We only ate Breakfast at the Hotel but this was varied, cooked to order and fresh. Having spent a week in Cornwall at a 5* resort this summer which was disappointing the Channel View was an impressive 3*. Beautiful setting and our Seaviews were amazing. We stayed in a Premier Plus Family Room (no. 62) which had ample room for the five of us. The hotel was well heated throughout we had no complaints whatsoever accept my Husband likes a high pressured shower and the one in our room was not quite up to par.....
Thoroughly recommend this Hotel for a short break and hope to visit again next year.

We have just enjoyed a 5day break at Channel View and found it to be an excellent hotel. The staff were very friendly and the amenities very good. Could not fault the food wish was served by very pleasant and efficient staff. Our room was clean and had everything that one needs including biscuits every day! The swimming pool was of good size for a small hotel but would have liked lockers to protect ones property. Entertainment was of good standard and varied.
Am looking forward to future visits. Thank you all for making our autumn break a time to remember.

Room Tip: Our room was good and sure that is the same for all rooms at this hotel

I have today, returned from another 5 day break at this wonderful Hotel. The staff are second to none, as is the cleanliness, helpfulness and the ideal situation of this very friendly establishment.
The food is excellent and varied and my friend and myself had a Reflexology session which was very relaxing. The swimming pool is also very clean and water temperature ideal, especially after a day out touring the Island. I am already looking forward to my next break at this Hotel. Thank you all, once again for a wonderful time.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are always a favourite.

Recently spent six nights at the Channel View Hotel,Shanklin and was very impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. The food was excellent with a good choice of menu. A vegitarian option was also available. The rooms were a good size and the beds comfortable.

Good Hotel, the owners are at Reception so they know what is going on.

Second visit this year, we had room 18. The Hotel seems to have Crusader Travel booked in again, which is nice because it fills up the Hotel. We weren’t with the coach company. I enjoyed the entertainment in the evening too.

I am a veggie and the food was excellent. I do not like spicey food and they checked with me each morning if I wanted that evening meal or something else. The breakfast was different - I even had pancakes one day. Food really is good. Nice hotel.

Lovely staff and food is very good.

Room Tip: I am still hoping to get room 36 one day, which seems to be booked all the time. Room 61 is a nice...

My family and I (four adults) stayed at The Channel View Hotel for 3 nights on a Dinner/Bed & Breakfast rate from 4 October 2012. This was our first trip to the Isle of Wight and we had not decided where on the IoW to stay, but chose this Hotel because of its rating on TripAdvisor. We were certainly not disappointed.

We had to email the Hotel with our request for 4 rooms with single occupancy and we had a quick response and was delighted to get special rates. I stayed in a Premier room with delightful sea views whilst the others booked Select rooms. However, all rooms were sufficiently spacious, spotlessly clean and equipped with tea and coffee (no minibar). I had a powerful mixer-tap over-the-bath-shower.

On arrival we were welcomed by one of the staff who personally showed each of us to our rooms. Check-in was very easy and quick. As we were visiting nearly at the end of the season, the Hotel was not too busy and fairly quiet, which we appreciated. Check-out was also quick and easy and Reception ordered a cab for us to take us back to Ryde.

The restaurant staff were very efficient and attentive. We had a window table, which we used each day for both breakfast and dinner, so we were never rushed to vacate the table for others. The three-course dinners were very good and sufficiently varied and we particularly enjoyed the rice pudding and cheesy potatoes (I can't remember the proper name on the menu). There was never a long wait between courses.

There was no breakfast buffet (which I am used to); instead the staff would take orders for tea/coffee, juice, cereal or porridge, then the cooked breakfast. We all loved the vegetarian sausages (which were available daily), and the fried bread and pancakes, which appeared on the menu on different days. The staff were able to cater to individual tastes. The orders were brought in promptly and used cutlery/plates/bowls were cleared away quickly.

The Hotel is close to Shanklin beach. The railway station is about a 10 minute walk away and the bus station about a 15 minute walk away. If you don't have your own vehicle, then getting around the IoW by bus is a very scenic way to travel. As buses run every 30 minutes, it is wise to get a timetable so as not to miss connections. Single cash bus fares are expensive but buying a group rover ticket for 24 hours or 48 hours is a real bargain, as you can take as many buses as you want. Most buses go into Newport, the capital, and from there we took buses to The Needles and Osbourne House. Some rover tickets also allow you to go on open-top tour buses at no extra cost.

Although the Hotel has a spa and pool, we did not use these facilities.

Since returning to London, we have already recommended this Hotel to others. Should we visit the IoW again, we will definitely stay at The Channel View Hotel.
