Lots on the menu and all freshly cooked to order. The waiting staff were attentive. The restaurant was well laid out so even when busy we weren't jammed up against other dinners.

We enjoyed a wonderful seafood meal, the ultimate dish being the seafood platter, which was generous, imaginative and delicious. Large prawns, shrimps, crab, sea bass, plus one or two more fishes. There was also a very nice salad, to fill in the odd corners.

My wife ordered hake with scallops & was served hake with prawns, with no explanation until queried.

She then ordered raspberry pavlova with no raspberries, we weren’t however charged for the latter, which is just as well because the fruit portion offered was grossly inferior to that on neighbouring tables?

My food, on the other hand, crab and lobster bisque followed by crab and tiger prawn tagliatelle plus cheese and biscuits was however superb.

Have to say, service front of house left plenty to be desired, waiting 20 minutes for the first course and three quarters of an hour for the mains seemed excessive. Accepted the food was made fresh, but an additional wait of 20 minutes for cheese and biscuits when the restaurant was virtually empty was, we felt, unacceptable.

The restaurant boasts of being an award winning contemporary restaurant, with a chef who worked in top London restaurants including working along side the celebrity chef Marco Pierre White.

The basics of serving and removing plates from the right hand side were not observed, neither was the golden rule of keeping fingers off plates and not in the lettuce as was the case with my cheese and biscuits.

Waitresses need to be drilled in the correct way to serve wine, an initial tasting wasn’t offered, and rudimentary handling of glasses by the stem, keeping fingers away from the rim etc. were not observed. They should also have a limited knowledge of the wines on offer and be prepared to share advice on selection. The customer needs to be assured that they’ve chosen the correct wine. Our waitress was very pleasant. but ‘shall I pour or leave you to it’ is not what we expected.

Admittedly you’re not paying City Boy Restaurant prices at Morgan’s, but attention to detail doesn’t cost anything. Marco Pierre White, who incidentally my wife and I will be meeting next week wouldn’t I’m sure be happy with Morgan’s front of house activities. In summary, the food at Morgan’s is on the whole excellent, but there’s urgent need to improve the serving experience.

My wife should’ve been told that there we’re no scallops left for her main course when ordering, she would’ve probably probably changed her order. Same goes for the pavlova. Who knows, she may have had an allergy to prawns?

We came here Friday evening and had a lovely dinner, we both had the hake and it tasted amazing. Large portion size, we couldn’t quite fit in the pudding but those too sounded great. Service was fast and pleasant, would definitely recommend and return
