We recently have come back from a week at Ninham, with other family members, firstly the good- pitches were large enough for our big Vermont, and site is very well looked after, showers were old but clean and very hot which leads me to the bad. Showers were at times unbearably hot and my young children were very reluctant to use them after their first one. We were pitched next to the road and it did get noisy a couple of times at night, as there are no time restrictions. Also, although it says private road there are no security gates into the campsite, unless they rely on the man on the scooter! I have to point out, we were with family that took dogs so we were on Willow Brook behind the arrivals area, and it was very quiet and we never had to wait for the showers or washing up facility. We were told that the site had a play area but sadly this was closed as was another toilet block close by. The children were told off a couple of times by the chap on a scooter, for flying a kite and playing football in the arrivals area, despite it clearly showing this area as a Ball games area. You could argue about the kite flying as we were directly under the flight path for the close by small airport, flying small aircraft, but I think it was unnecessary as the kites were literally flying just above the hedge line. The games room was very outdated but spacious and a couple of chairs for parents to sit, the pool was a hit and enjoyed by all. Wifi is not included and quite expensive. Tried the launderette on site and washing came out clean, which compared to other sites this was brilliant. There is fishing on site, but excessive in asking for £5 per rod used, when most sites provide this for free.
Found some staff very helpful however and although this site was not for us, would be a nice find for couples who like a strict run site without dogs and children.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Ninham. We were 3 x families so we were allocated 3 pitches on the field which is for parties requiring more than 2 pitches or people with dogs. The pitches really are very large and we had 3 very level adjacent pitches. There is a heated pool which was open until 8pm so was ideal for a quick cool down after a long day out.

The toilet block on this field is the older toilet block but is clean and we never had to queue for a shower even over the bank holiday weekend. At the rear of the block is the washing up area. There is also a games room for the teenagers and small play area. The big bonus for us was that you can charge your mobiles in reception free of charge. Reception have alot if leaflets and info on IOW and we always found them helpful and knowledgeable.

There is a Morrisons within a 2 minute drive and a great family pub with a large play area within 5 mins drive called Fighting Cocks. The food is good value and excellent quality. We also ate dinner at the Pig and Whistle in Shanklin High Street where kids eat free. It is worth walking into Shanklin from campsite in the evening there is only one main car park in Shanklin Old Village serving all the main pubs and was especially busy on the Saturday evening.

We will all be back again as soooo much to see and do and Ninham had everything we needed for our brilliant weekend and is in an excellent location!

Booked a very last minute 4 days at Ninham. We were very impressed at the whole service that we received from the initial enquiry and then throughout our stay. The booking over the phone was quick yet thorough and our ferries were booked for us too for a reduced price (note that if you need to change your ferry, must be done through Ninham not at the ferry terminal).

As previous reviews have said, the site is very well maintained, quiet and full of like minded souls! The shower block is lovely, a lot more modern than what we are used to, and plenty of clean sinks for dishes.

It is a fairly long and bumpy drive to the site but it is worth it. No road noise in our area 'The Orchard' or dogs barking or motorbikes.

If we return to the IOW we would not waste our time browsing the internet for another site. Ninhams is exactly as the other reviewers have written. Excellent, well run site, clean and quiet. Ticks all my boxes, family or couple.

Room Tip: The Orchard. No dogs, lovely shower block.

We have stayed in the Isle of Wight many times over the years, all our usual places were fully booked as it was a pretty late decision. We found Ninham through trip advisor and read several reviews, I have to say what a fantastic place, the camp is ideally located with a long drive away from the road. We were taken to our pitch by a really helpful chap on his scooter. The pitch was a 10m by 10m plot, we booked to stay on "the orchard" this particular section was made for us the other campers like ourselves had young families, there was no road around our tent so it was perfect for our 3 daughters to make friends. The shower block (Eco friendly) was knewly built so spotless. I have to say as a mum with 3 young daughters (10,3 & 1) the family shower was an amazing idea, 3 different height showers and a baby bath inside a large cubicle. Made showering easy and a fun. All the staff were really friendly and helpful... Ninham has a family friendly appeal.. No kids on gadgets just bikes, ball games and fun.. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended 3 more days.. Defiantly will be booking next year..

We have been to this camp site for 7 consecutive years and have always found it to be excellent. The pitches are very spacious and well maintained. The staff are friendly and welcoming and always willing to help. Continuity of the wardens from year to year, such as Frank and his wife make arriving on site less stressful as you know you are going to be greeted with a friendly face and someone who knows which pitch you are going to. We have developed a friendship with the owners over the years and they always make a point of coming to see us at some point during our holiday, to make sure everything is okay. There has been considerate investment in the new toilet block, which has improved the facilities no end, they were cleaned on a regular basis, there was plenty of hot water and sufficient showers for the number of people on the site. The pool area is great for the kids, and sunbeds are provided for the parents. There is also plenty of space for the kids to play in, well away from the caravans/tents. We regularly recommend this camp site.

Wife, daughter (12) and I stayed at Ninham Camp site from 4th to 18th August. The camp site is large and effectively divided into two parts....dogs and non-dogs. We stayed in the non-dogs area which is based around the new shower block. The camp site is effectively located on the side of a hill and whilst many pitches have been landscaped so they are level to suit caravans, there is a likelihood that tent dwellers may find themselves pitched on a slight slope. Our trailer tent beds took a bit of adjusting to get some semblance of levelness. The pitches in general though were very large and not cramped in on top of each other. The site is immaculately maintained throughout.

The new shower block is superbly appointed with plenty of cubicles for showering and plenty of toilets. The showers themselves however need a bit of a rethink. Firstly, the shower heads deliver a simple cone of spray and its is possible to stand in certain places and barely get wet!!. A design of jet that concentrates the spray in a smaller area would be an improvement. Also the shower cubicles are divided in two by a "half width" partition...this is allegedly to allow you to keep towels/clothes dry from the shower spray....unfortunately the shower spray was angled in such a way that it was easy to bounce off ones body "round the corner" into the "dry area"....once you discovered this though you learned to "defend" against it!!!....a minor issue but one i'm sure will be addressed. Shower pressure wasn't the greatest and if you like to be "attacked" by the spray you will be disappointed...likewise the shower spray is on a timer and you need to keep pressing the button every so often to restart the flow of water....some people have moaned about this but when you realise the commitment the site has to saving energy and water (they have a recycling area and encourage campers to use it properly and the toilets flush using collected rainwater) this shouldn't really be an issue for anyone but the most pedantic.

Despite the number of children around the site fell quiet pretty much most nights at around 10pm....there was very little noise after this time...on the one occasion I heard children being overly boisterous late on there was quick intervention by camp staff requesting them to be a tad less exuberant.

Washing up facilities were also plentiful allowing downtrodden blokes a forum in which to gather and swap tales of marital oppression whilst doing the dishes. The wife's comments about the clothes washing/drying machines efficiency were also positive.

The site also has a small games room (unused by myself so I cant comment), a swimming pool (reliably informed by my daughter that it was warm) and a couple of small fishing lakes that seemed popular. There was also an impressive wet room for disabled visitors though there may be an issue with wheelchair users actually getting easy access to it due to a couple of gravel pathways that they'd have to cross.

Overall I was quite impressed by the site, its overall condition and the friendliness of the staff and would happily stay there again....any niggles were truly insignificant. (We were lucky to arrive the day after the big hailstones reported by others here!!). The site is well located within easy reach (short drive) of Sandown and Shanklin beaches and with good road contacts to the rest of the island. A Morrisons supermarket is just a couple of hundred yards away from the main entrance to the site.
