“Nice stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

Stayed at the 3 star luccombe hall hotel on a group 2 night B&B deal. Enjoyed our stay staff welcoming and pleasant. On both mornings we had full English which was good. Negative was that you could not sit at any table for breakfast. This we discovered when we sat in the conservatory only to told our table was inside and we could not sit there! The following morning we noticed that we had a table in the conservatory.
We stayed in room 4 which was clean and modern however the shower was appalling - no pressure what so ever- you would b better just having a bath.
Although they have 2 car parks I could see that parking would be an issue if you did not get back before 7 pm as space is limited.
Old village shanklin is a lovely area try the excellent local red squirrel cream tea served in the Pencil cottage tea room. The village pub is old and quirky and serves excellent food we ate upstairs which has waiter service.
Osborne house is well worth a visit walk to or take the courtesy bus to the beach and indulge in locally made ice cream I recommend the old English toffee flavour. Personally i was disappointed when i visited the garlic farm shop - i thought was expensive.
Although this review has a few negatives we did enjoy our stay at the Luccombe hall hotel and would probably return.

Myself and a friend had promised ourselves a mini hotel break a long time ago and this hotel was definitely worth the wait! Upon arrival, the friendly receptionist made us feel very at home, taking time to show us all the facilities. Our room was quiet, clean, comfortable and tidy, with the luxury of a spa bath. We made use of the pool/hot tub/sauna, which were nice, followed by a massage in the treatment room (nb the treatments are an added cost).

The 4 course evening meal was very enjoyable, especially sat in the conservatory area with it's amazing sea view. I personally disagree with another reviewer on here who slated the chicken supreme - mine was very tasty and all food piping hot - the brioche with the mushrooms was really good. Breakfast the next morning provided a good selection of food - fruits/yoghurts/toast/cereal/fruit juices/cooked breakfasts. I personally didn't like the mushrooms at breakfast but everything else was tasty.

The hotel had a very relaxing atmosphere about it and we found all of the staff to be very polite and helpful - even outside of the hotel staff spoke to us, having recognised us as customers. There are a good range of facilities in addition to those already mentioned - there is a nice quiet lounge where you can sit and enjoy a selection of newspapers and complimentary tea/coffee; a games room with table tennis and pool table; a selection of board games in the bar area; extensive outdoor gardens with kiosk that sells toasties/ice cream/teas etc - all surprisingly well priced - (need good weather to sit there though); and we were told that there were steps from the hotel down to the beach.

Would definitely return to this hotel - hope for warmer weather next time so perhaps can venture down to the beach. Thank you to all the staff for making us feel welcome and for making our break very enjoyable.

Used groupon deal together with a friend to stay at this hotel and must say really enjoyed our stay. Very attentive staff, clean room and good facilities. Used pool, hot tub and sauna and enjoyed every minute. Very nice evening meal, little less impressed by the breakfast but certainly palatable. Parking available so could walk into the old town.

Would visit again.

We chose this hotel and travelled from Southampton at a special inclusive price on offer from Travel Zoo so we could visit an elderley relative on the island. The weather was appalling when we arrived but the hotel was a lovely surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room had a part view of the sea, was furnished well and had a great kingsized bed with nice linens. The tea/coffee tray was well stocked and the toiletries were provided. There was plenty of parking provided for the time of year we were there but it might be limited in the busier season.

This hotel overlooks the sea and has lovely views from the dining room, where we had a very pleasant dinner on the first night which was included in the overall price of the weekend. There was plenty of choice of hot and cold at breakfast and the waiting staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The bar (where scrabble etc., was provided for those of us who did not want to go out in the rain) was a lovely warm and welcoming area in the evening. The gardens are beautifully set out but the pool and garden tea area looks a bit neglected but no doubt these will be improved by the high season when the weather will be better I am sure.

The old village is small and lovely and has a few small restaurants which all seem to offer good food at reasonable prices. The walk down to the beach through the gardens or via the road at the rear of the hotel are quite steep for people with walking problems but are worth the effort.

The experience has made me want to visit the island again and I am sure we will return to this hotel for the location, the ambiance and the standard of food.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with at least a partial sea view.

I took my 9 year old daughter to the Isle of Wight for a special one-to- one weekend treat away from the rest of the family. We really wanted to be near the sea and have a pool. Luccombe Hall came up with a good deal. We had a Superior twin room - it had breath-taking views - definitely worth it. The room was clean, well laid out, plenty of towels. The staff were so very friendly and helpful, a real asset to the hotel. We made the most of the pool, which was clean and pleasant. There is a very small amount of wear and tear in the decor in the pool room, but this is a three star hotel, not the Ritz, and I only mention it because of some of the other comments that have been made, it is really quite lovely, don't be put off.

You can walk down to the beach, or down into Shanklin. There is car parking, not quite enough if the hotel is full, but there is parking right outside on the street.

All in all, a lovely place to stay, i would definitely like to come back here.

Also, I did find out they have a family room which sleep 5 - which is not very common - a double, a single and bunk beds, which will be perfect for us when we come back as a family.

We stayed Saturday to Monday. Friendly, helpful staff. Loved the swimming pool and hot tub. Rooms clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the pool table and table tennis plus all the games available for the kids in the games room. Beautiful breakfast views over the sea and adventurous but well kept garden. Trampoline gets 5 stars from the kids!

Just had a three day break and as we were treating sister & hubby wanted somewhere really nice. On arrival staff were extremely friendly and helpful, had a drink in sunroom and wow what a view. Were very disappointed with rooms so negotiated an upgrade to rooms with sea views. Rooms although they were a bit lacking in style were clean and beds comfortable and once again the view was wonderful. Dinner was OK but breakfast much better with fresh fruit, yogurts and an excellent choice from the menu. Because of the time of year the gardens didn't look their best but I imagine in late spring and summer it would be spectacular with the sea shining beyond .This hotel does seem a little tired in some areas and is a traditional style not boutique but we would all most definitely return for another visit. It is within walking distance of the old town and the beach and cliff path. If you do go make sure you visit the next village called Godshill and go to The Taverners Pub, its very rustic and warm with fabulous food. JoJo Shropshire.

Room Tip: It is worth negotiating an upgrade to a sea view room, we were given 12 and 14 originally and these...
