“December break in sunny Shanklin”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

A lovely two night stay at Luccombe Hall Hotel. We stayed in room 24 with fabulous views of the garden and the sea. The evening meal menu had plenty of choice and all the courses were well presented and imaginative. This hotel provides many facilities to make your stay comfortable and interesting. The swimming pool area and hot tub were excellent,.there was table tennis and a pool table. The open fire in the lounge was delightful and there was also a quiet room with papers provided for the guests. Another nice touch was that we were allocated a table in the conservatory with wonderful sea views where we could enjoy all our meals.

I'm delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the fabulous garden and sea views from both your room and the conservatory in the Grand View Restaurant. I'm glad you found the menu imaginative, well presented with plenty of choice and that you enjoyed some of the many leisure facilities within the hotel. I do hope that you will choose to stay with us again in the future.

We returned for a long weekend at Luccombe Hall - the staff were very welcoming as always and Josh ensured all the guests were well entertained in the evenings! Despite a couple of small hiccups in the kitchen department (namely chef forgetting to put any mince in the lasagne and that deep fried brie shouldn't be served frozen) we had a great time. We had one of the sea facing rooms again and now with double glazing installed nice and toasty.

Room Tip: Room 25 nice seaview and on same level as hotel so no stairs

Thank you very much for choosing Luccombe Hall Hotel for your recent break on our lovely Island and sharing your experience on Trip Advisor. It was a pleasure to welcome you back again and I do hope it won't be the last time we see you.

I am glad you liked your room and found it to be warm with a lovely sea view. I must admit that room 25 is one of my favourite rooms as it has such a nice view and is spacious with a king size bed.

I am sorry that you had a disappointing experience in the restaurant with the brie and lasagne. This had been brought to my attention during your stay with us and the head chef has been made aware to ensure this does not happen again.

Thank you again for your feedback and I hope to be able to welcome you back to Luccombe Hall in 2014.

Regards

Clare Wells

We have just returned from a two night stay at Luccombe Hall. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a room overlooking the garden and a fantastic sea view. The dining room has a conservatory with a lovely panoramic view. The diner menu was very tasty with enough choice for a short break and breakfast you have a choice of continental style and full English I had the fish with a poached egg (very nice) you also have the usual cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit. An Open Log fire in the bar area gives a welcoming feeling to this pleasant Hotel on the Hill.

Room Tip: The Photo was from the window of room 22

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Luccombe Hall. I have temporary mobility problems and had checked in advance that we could have a ground floor room with a shower. We were given room 1 which has been completely refurbished and has a fabulous wet room. Perfect!

The hotel was comfortable and clean, the staff all very friendly and helpful and the food was good. We stayed on a half board basis and although the menu didn't change each night, there was a wide choice and I could happily have stayed 5 nights and found something different to enjoy each night. There are lovely views from the restaurant. We were also given complimentary tea and coffee and mince pies in the afternoon which we enjoyed by the log fire in the bar. Breakfasts were very good too, though I do think one croissant is a bit mean when I opted for the croissant option - which equated to bacon, sausage, egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown and beans on the menu choice! However, there was a good choice of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruits as well as cooked items and plenty of toast, tea and coffee.

I would certainly recommend this hotel and would happily stay again.

We had a very nice stay at the Luccombe Hall Hotel. We did a lot of exploring and the hotel was a good base to do so. The breakfast was excellent and the view of the sea with the moon shining on it was beautiful. We made a mistake when booking our room and the staff were very accommodating in sorting it out. It is about a ten minute walk to town and right on one of the walking trails.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room.

Just returned fom a two night half-board break. Excellent clean and tidy room with balcony and sea view. Evening meal was good quality with varied menu. Breakfast was ok but slightly disappointing after the highly quality dinner the night before. Staff very helpful and friendly. The bar is very quiet in the evening, we were the only customers after 9.30 both nights. We will certainly return in the future.

Room Tip: Room 2, great sea view
