Reviewed 12 February 2014

Very welcoming, polite and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Had a lovely room (No. 18) with sea view and jets in bath! Felt as comfortable as being at home. Would love to return next year.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and were made to feel welcome and at home by our polite and helpful staff. Room 18, one of our superior seafacing rooms, benefits from great views across the bay and a spa bath in the bathroom. Its great to hear you appreciated these. I do hope you will return in the future and I look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind Regards

Clare

Very friendly and informative welcome. The room was very clean, spacious and warm and with a sea view. When we booked we were told that for the dates required we could only have a family room with double, single and bunk beds, we declined. We were asked to give them a few minutes and they would see what they could do. Ten minutes later we were allocated a standard room with a king bed. Could not fault them. The only thing that I could comment on was that the menus gave the impression that the food was second class and it was better than that, presented beautifully and was very nice. Make the menus more interesting the food deserves it!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for it!!! They are very helpful. Room 4 was lovely

Thank you for taking the time to share your holiday experience on Tripadvisor. I am glad to hear we were able to do some juggling to get your preferred room type available on the dates you required. I am happy you found our front of house staff to be friendly and informative. I am sorry that you felt the menu design let the food down but that your meal then exceeded your expectations. I will re-assess how we present the menu when we next review it. Thank you again for your comments and I do hope you will visit us again.

Kind Regards

We booked the 2 night winter deal including ferry and first night dinner and free wine on arrival. We were given a ground floor sea view room , very very big so no complaints there. The dinner was good , well presented and tasty and good service aswell.
Breakfast too had a good selection and well cooked to order hot food. We would have preferred a later end time for serving breakfast as feel a 930 finish is on the early side when on holiday .
Excellent location and easy to get everywhere, car park quite busy so I wouldn't like to be around in a busy season as parking would be an issue
We didnt have chance to use the leisure facilities, but the bar was welcoming and warm but again a later closing time than 1030 would be welcomed.
The only thing we needed to chase was lack of glasses , ice bucket and corkscrew for the wine left in our room for us
Overall an excellent price for a short break and very friendly staff with no complaints about service, food and the hotel itself so we will be back sometime for sure

Thank you for posting such a nice review following your short break with us. I am glad that you found your seafacing room spacious. It is nice to hear good comments about the food at both breakfast and dinner and the restaurant service. We offer and hour and a half breakfast service from 8-9.30am. We are lucky with our location and benefit from being close to the old village area and the seafront, via the cliff steps. We do have two car parks and there is additional parking along the quiet road outside the hotel. The bar usually shuts between 10.30 - 11pm depending on how busy it is. We do keep it open later if there are a lot of guests using this facility. I am sorry that the provision of glasses, ice bucket and cork screw were overlooked with your complimentary wine. I hope to see you back again in the future.

Kind Regards

Clare

Nice hotel....excellent staff. Not sure why a review has the food as horrible as our evening meal and breakfast were quite acceptable. Recommended.
Oh yes....the indoor pool is very warm' clean and a must on these cold wet winter dreary days.

Thank you for your review. I am glad you found our hotel nice and our staff excellent. It's also great to hear that you enjoyed your meals during your stay with us and were able to make the most of the leisure facilities. The sauna is a great way to warm up after a winter walk and the hot-tub and pool are at a great temperature to aid relaxation. I do hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to our hotel soon.

Just returned from a great 2 nights midweek break, the hotel is very welcoming and the staff attentive but not in your face. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was very nice.
The food was excellent and the evening meal absolutely top notch. The town is only 10 mins walk away and the steps from the beach arrive at the hotel back gate. We would not hesitate to stay there again

Room Tip: The sea view room was very nice

Thank you for leaving such a nice review for us. I am glad you had a great break and enjoyed your upgrade to a seafacing room. I am glad we were able to make you feel well looked after without being in your face.

We have recently introduced a new menu and have been receiving some great feedback from our guests and it's lovely to hear that you enjoyed the food too.

We are lucky with our great location, just a few minutes walk from the old village and with access down to the beach via the cliff steps just outside our gate.

I do hope you will come and visit us again soon.

Kind Regards

Had a great 3 night stay early January. Six of us, three rooms, all satisfied. Staff brilliant, friendly and helpful. Food excellent, good choice both at dinner and breakfast. Winter offer very good value for money. After a day of walking the swimming pool and sauna was more than welcome, a great way to warm up and relax before dinner. If you want to nit pick, being an older hotel, some areas need redecoration but this is more than made up for by the welcoming and homely atmosphere. We shall definitely use this hotel again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We had a standard room with a large bathroom on the second floor. Glimpse of the sea as we were on a...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about your stay with us on Tripadvisor.

I am so glad that you and your friends had a lovely time and found the staff friendly and helpful and enjoyed the food.

The Isle of Wight is a great destination for walking with so many well-kept footpaths throughout our beautiful countryside and along our magnificent coastline. I am glad you were able to make good use of our leisure facilities to warm up and relax after your daily exertions.

We do have an ongoing refurbishment schedule but being an older hotel, this is an ongoing process. I am glad that you found the atmosphere to be welcoming.

It would be lovely to welcome you all back again in the future. We do some really great value packages out of season.

Thank you again for your review.

Kind Regards

Having enjoyed a previous visit to the luccombe Manor we were looking forward to an excellent dinner but expectations were dashed when we saw the menu, the sort one would expect in a 1970,s station cafe. The food was even worse! The cilli that I ordered was a splodge of bright red paste with no flavour other than pepper with a scoop of rice,my wife ordered cod mornay,a piece of nondescript white fish covered with a grey liquid. The fish was undercooked and had niether the appearance or flavour of cod.We felt sorry for the very pleasant and attentive staff who had to serve this rubish. The room was nice and clean the breakfast was o.k.By all means stay at this hotel but never eat there

Room Tip: We had room 19 a sea view room on the upper floor very nice

Thank you for choosing Luccombe Hall Hotel for your recent short break on the Isle of Wight and taking the time to share your opinion with other travellers.

I am so sorry that the dining experience did not live up to your expectations. We have just recruited a new head chef and our new menu started just after your stay with us. This will ensure a better selection and variety of dishes. I have discussed the comments you have made here with our new chef and we are working together to increase the quality of food. It is a shame that you did not let us know about your displeasure at the time as we would have been happy to replace any items that were not to your liking.

I am glad that you enjoyed staying in room 19 with its lovely sea view and that you found the staff to be pleasant and attentive.

I do hope you will still consider a return visit to us in the future. Thank you again for your feedback.
