“Excellent - family friendly”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

This is a lovely hotel with many hidden gems!
Rooms: rooms were clean, serviced daily and very spacious. The whirlpool bath was a welcomed surprise.
Food: Breakfast was good with a wide range of choice and the portion size was generous. The evening meal was lovely and great value for money.
Staff: All the staff were friendly and went out if their way to make us very welcome.
Facilities: indoor and outdoor pools were clean and easy to access. The games room was an added bonus. The children's park was excellent and catered for all ages, it really was a lovely park and the hotel should promote this more as my 2 year old loved it.
Location: easy access to the town and beach, perfect location.
Overall this was an outstanding hotel with lovely staff, I would actually rate it 4* as it exceeds my expectations if a 3* hotel.

We will be returning.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us on Tripadvisor. I'm so glad you and your family had an enjoyable stay with us. Myself and the team work hard to make sure all our guests are made to feel welcome and comfortable.

We are lucky to have both indoor and outdoor play areas and these are always popular with our younger visitors.

I am glad you enjoyed the food and found the location gave easy access to both the beach and town.

I do hope you will be able to make a return trip to Luccombe Hall in the future.

Kind Regards

Clare

We booked this hotel through an offer and were impressed with the hotel overall. The gardens are fantastic to look out over and view from sea facing room is amazing - you feel like you are abroad! People have commented that the hotel is a little dated and some parts do need to be updated but it didn't spoil our visit at all. The staff are fabulous and really make you feel welcome. The amenities are second to none whether you want a outdoor heated pool, giant chess & draughts, small putting green the inside you have pool, hot tub , table tennis, pool, squash court and a selection of games in the bar. If you find time to leave all this you can venture into the quaint little village of shanklin which is about a 15 min walk. I think this hotel definitely earns its 3 stars!!

Room Tip: I would suggest for the best sea view the ground floor as apposed to the superior as it has a better...

Thank you for posting your feedback on Tripadvisor. I am glad you had an enjoyable break with us. We are very lucky with our positioning which gives us some fantastic seaviews from many of the bedrooms and restaurant. Our team of staff work really hard to make sure all our guests enjoy their stay and it is lovely to see favourable comments about them. We do have a programme of refurbishment and improvement in place but due to the age of the builing and extensive facilities this is very much ongoing. You sound like you made the most of all our facilities and had a good break. The Old village area of Shanklin with thatched pubs and quaint tea rooms is around 4 minutes walk from the hotel with the larger town area a slightly further 15 minute stroll. I do hope you have the opportunity of returning in the future and seeing more of our lovely Island.

Having to visit the Isle of Wight on a business trip we decided to stay at Luccombe Hall. It proved to be a good decision as it was a taste of days gone by. Like the Isle of Wight generally, while having all the modern amenities it hasn't lost the charm of its history.
The hotel if fresh and well maintained with good facilities. The staff are very helpful and the food is of a good quality. The location is very good and just right if anyone wanted a retreat from todays hustle and bustle.
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The view over the sea from our room was excellent.

Our first visit to the Isle of Wight was made so very memorable for several reasons: the weather was good - very good, in fact - the island people were so very friendly, there was lots and lost to see and do, the scenery magnificent, etc, etc but the very best thing about our three dau stay was the Luccombe Hall Hotel in Shanklin. Clare and her team - Brooke, Cathy, Dave, Sam and several others - really do go out of their way to be helpful, friendly and very pleasant. The hotel is just brilliantly positioned on several acres of wonderful gardens on the top of the cliffs: views are literally breathtaking - our second day saw the round-the -island yacht race, and the sight of hundreds of them sailing past in the sunshine will lasdt long in our memories. We stayed B&B on a deal and so were expecting to be in a broom cupboard tucked away overlooking the car park - what a lovely surprise when Brooke showed us to a lovely double room with a sea vies and an enormouse en-suite bathroom! We didn't, of course, spend much time in the room - there was so much to see and do on the island - but nonetheless it was very, very comfortable and a real delight to have somewhere so pleasant to get back after a couple of long days doing what tourists do! The food in the hotel was top class, the menu quite varied and the wine list not extensive but with some real quality at very reasonable proces. I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts - just what was need to set us up for looking round this lovely island: I must also mention the vegetables served with dinners: we've been to so many placs where we've been served with ever-so-al-dente carrots, broccoli and others and it was a real delight to get beautifully cooked veg at Luccombe Hall. The oudoor pool was spotlessly clean and very enjoyable - it was too warm to use the indoor pool. Please don't tell everyone - try and keep this place a secret or we'll never be able to get in again - which we definitely intend to do!! Magnificent!!

Room Tip: A room at the rear facing the sea is best.

Just spent a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, the meals were good. The hotel has a superb position overlooking the sea and the grounds and pool were well kept. It was surely excellent value for money and one to return to in the future.

Room Tip: Room 26 overlooks the pool and has a great view of the sea

Have had a very enjoyable 3 night stay. We found that although the decor is a bit dated, it is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The staff are all friendly and helpful and obviously want guests to enjoy their stay. We had a very acceptable meal on our first night and breakfast is plentiful.

Room Tip: Suggest asking for a first floor room.
