My wife and I have just returned from a three night break at the Luccombe Hall hotel, Skanklin. I have to say that we enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel was full of character and the staff very friendly and obliging. The food was very good and variable. The meals we had were in the extension to the dining room overlooking the sea which made it very relaxing. Our room was very comfortable, but I had to report that the television needed retuning and one of the radiators was cold. Having said this the faults were rectified immediately without question. I would have given the hotel 5* but for these unfortunate minor problems.

This Hotel is in a great position, set high up above Shanklin on the Luccombe side. This gives it fantastic sea views that we so enjoyed.
We stayed for 4 nights in one of the newly refurbished rooms, which had it's own garden, deck and private Hot Tub. What a treat to come back from exploring the area and spend a couple of hours in the hot tub as the light faded.
The food was also of a good standard and offered good value. We had pre-booked the 2 course evening dinner for £15 each deal and were treated to a totally different menu each evening. The staff here were friendly and provided superb service, Annie in particular is a real credit to the Hotel. Also the Barman Kris was a friendly and helpful team member who made us so welcome.
The room itself was very clean, all freshly furnished and decorated and had a super kingsize bed that was so comfortable. We slept really well here. The bathroom too has been renewed recently and was great.
One thing to bear in mind if you are not able to use stairs - these garden rooms are accessed via 2 flights with no other way in. This was not an issue for us, but may be to some. The balcony rooms above us are accessible to all.
Overall, this Hotel is friendly and offers much, for a very reasonable price. We will be recommending it to our family and friends and will certainly be back ourselves :)

Room tip: Upgrade rooms offer the best views and facilities for not too many more ££

My husband and I have just returned from a special birthday break at the Luccombe Hall hotel. We would like to thank all the staff for their very professional and helpful service throughout our stay. Even the breakfast waiter was kind enough to ensure that my choice of egg was cooked the way I liked it! (Being a fussy egg eater!) The large room with a beautiful sea view (see attached photos) was perfect, very clean, a lovely comfortable king size bed and well equipped bathroom. We chose to dine in every evening and the extensive menu was changed every day. The food was delicious and the waiting and bar staff very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely time. Thanks for making our stay with you very special and we will be back....see you soon!

Room tip: Sea view room with balcony, large and no steps to access

Really enjoyed our stay here. Upgraded to a sea view..... and what a view! Fabulous! Clean, bright, well equipped room, although would have liked a second chair. Very relaxed, friendly, helpful staff. Very warm and cosy, despite the very cold weather. Had a locked bike shed, which was very much appreciated and dealt with my dietary requirements without a problem. Really appreciated the fresh fruit at breakfast, but would have liked the choice of 'real' yoghurt, as well as fat free. Enjoyed the table tennis and indoor pool.

Room tip: Sea view worth every penny!
