We had a wonderful stay here for our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff were extremely helpful, the food was fantastic, the rooms were elegant and the Osborne suite was fabulous for celebrating a special occasion. We couldn't fault a thing. We ate in the restaurant and found the background music perfect, plenty of other couples and families also dining and the food served was first class. the service was exceptional. We didn't have time to try out the pampering and spa facilities but I would have thought they also would be very good. The hotel is up a fairly steep hill but that gave the fabulous views which I would recommend seeing. One of our best holidays ever.

We stayed at the hotel for a week. My wife and I had a premiere room and our teenage son a standard room. As others have said some of the bedroom furniture is a bit tired, but everything worked and the corner bath and shower were a joy. Breakfast was great, other than the chef forgetting fried bread twice, but that was put right immediately. Every member of staff we met were both helpful and friendly, given that, in my opinion the hotel is slightly understaffed. Ordering a drink before dinner was an exercise in patience, as the restuarant staff also had to man the bar, which was not that close to the restuarant. The outdoor pool and leisure facilities were fine, but the tiles sourounding the pool need re-grouting and weeding. We stayed there for a quiet break, which is exactly what we had, but the hotel offers a "mini cinema" and games room in the basement. We went down there once to investigate, but all the lights were off, so it was a bit spooky. The games room was extremely tired, so I would suggest closing it and concentrate on what you do best, which is looking after your guests. So to summarise, this hotel is good but not great. It could be great with a few minor changes, and just one more member of staff please to look after the bar and weed the pool area. Also, it is a minor point, but our room was not vacuumed every day, which it really needed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view. Room 6 is great for this.

Staff are pleasant and helpful.
Good breakfast.
Good location with costal views. Please be aware steep hill up to the hotel from Shanklin Village.
We stayed three nights and were the only guests in the lounge apart from one evening when another couple joined us.
Rooms looked tired and in need of updating.
Guest parking was a problem for us on two occasions.

My wife booked this on line and when we turned up we were not disapointed. The setting is excellent the staff were friendly the facilities were good the rooms were a little tired but we were there for a long weekend break so time spent in the room was minimal. Two pools(indoor and outdoor) sauna(small) gym(acceptable). Good breakfast(ate out the rest of the time). So here is our only gripe, the hotel had all the amienities we needed, however, no air con. Now I know it is of historic signifcance that Queen Victoria had this built as a residence for one of her ladies in waiting, but 20thC comforts are a must in this day and age so come on Bourne Hotel, dont let yourself down. As an aside, make sure you reseach ferry crossings and prices BEFORE booking !

Room Tip: Didnt have too many children staying here so it was quiet all over, but be prepared for some steep h...

Having just returned from the IOW we had an enjoyable stay at Bourne Hall over two nights, The hotel is nice, clean and warm, The rooms a little tired but kept clean. We did not eat in the restaurant as it was a little basic and underused by hotel guests.
My son used the swimming pool which was clean ans hot, but the overall Enviroment needs some attention, Out of all the hotels in Shanklin I would recommend this hotel as a base, just don't expect to much.

Had a very enjoyable, relaxing 3 night break at this quietly situated hotel. The room had beautiful vierws over the grounds to the sea and across the bay to Sandown. Our room was spacious with a comfortable modern 4 poster bed and a newly refurbished ensuite with a corner bath.
The food was excellent and the staff friendly & helpful.
We will certainly look forward to a return visit to this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 6 good views

While the hotel is not far from Shanklin village it is quite a strenuous walk back up the hill if your legs don't work very well, but a taxi was only £3.50. We have no complaints about the hotel itself. When we arrived we were greeted by the staff who grabbed our cases and escorted us to our room. We were then supplied with tea and biscuits. Our room was quite large and well furnished, the bathroom was clean and well supplied. The food was excellent and well served by attentive waiters. The indoor pool was one of the best I have ever seen in a hotel. I didn't try the outside pool (British weather), but it looked quite inviting. When I go to the Isle of Wight again, this place will be high on my list.
