“Satisfied Cyclists !”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

My friend and I enjoyed four very comfortable nights at Luccombe Villa. We were taking part in the Round the Island Cycling Randonnee and had a great time. The accommodation was spacious with everything one could need for self-catering and spotlessly clean. Also the apartment was in a very good location in Shanklin - close to the Old Village and the seafront. We will certainly stay at the Villa again, especially as the owners were so helpful and friendly.

This was our 5th stay at Luccombe Villa. The second time at Two Hoots. We strongly recommend this place to any family or couples looking for self catering accommodations. Fiona and Miles are the most welcoming host one could wish for. It really is the best place we have found on the Island.

We regularly come to Luccombe Villa in Shanklin for a week's holiday with our doggies and this is a lovely place to come. The ground floor apartment is easily accessible and the courtyard garden is secure for the animals to wander in. The apartment is sparklingly clean and well equipped. We wouldn't want to go anywhere else to stay and don't want to go home on our leaving day!

Just enjoyed a fantastic week of weather in this first floor 2 bed flat. We have stayed in many different self catering premises over the years but can say this establishment rates as one of the cleanest, best equipped and comfiest we have stayed in. The lounge/ kitchen diner is very spacious for 4 people with the usual TV and DVD, and a comprehensive library of films to borrow from the downstairs utility room. The lounge has 2 large South East facing windows, so in the morning the sun shines straight in and makes you feel good! Both bedrooms are ensuite, spotlessly clean with large shower cubicles (no baths) and powerful showers. I believe all the flats were in use when we stayed, but apart from when other guests were using the stairs we heard no noise, amazing as several had young children! The property is only a 5 minute walk from Shanklin Old Village, although this is down then up a steep slope past the Chine, with the beach only 10 minutes walk past the Bandstand (great in the summer for evening concerts from local island bands).
We have stayed many times in the Isle of Wight (4 or 5 times in different flats in Luccombe Villa) and have always found the flats kept up to a high standard.
PS I shan't worry if you decide not to stay here, gives us more opportunity to get our booking in!

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor as you will get a view of the sea.

A lovely welcome as we arrived, Fiona showed us where everything was and kindly lent us an OS map for our long weekend. Very nicely positioned too. The beach around the corner & lots of choice in Shanklin, (a short walk away). The fab thing about the Isle of Wight is: nothings too far away to visit. My son and I had a lovely long weekend here. I'd highly recommend Luccombe villa.
I'd like to come back over time doing a similar trip with each of my daughters!. I know they'd love it too. Thanks Fiona and family!.

Room Tip: The Burrow is very secluded with no outside noise at night - giving you a lovely sleep

Lovely location in older part of Shanklin and a shortcut to shops and eating places nearby but rather a hilly walk to get there. Good base to see the rest of the island.
Stayed in Crow's Nest apartment and best to avoid if problems climbing stairs although the view is lovely and you can just about see the sea. The large bed is comfy but the couch is a sofa bed which is pretty uncomfortable to sit on. Equipped to a good standard but the basin had ingrained dirt and the toilet brush and holder were filthy. Otherwise everything was clean.

Had problems with parking on one occasion and had to leave the car in the street.
Nice touch with the bottle of wine. Just remember to bring soap, salt and pepper.

Does not reflect 4 * accommodation and probably 3* is more appropriate.

Room Tip: If problems with mobility best not to choose the Crow's Nest apartment. There are outside steps...

Thank you Fiona and Miles for a really lovely holiday stay. We were accommodated in The Pine's a three bedroom apartment, one bedroom ensuite with a lovely big bath and a separate family bath room with a shower, a lovely large dinning/sitting room and a very adequate kitchen. After a bit of furniture moving we managed to get the cot into the bedroom with the bunks and having pushed the twin beds together settled down to enjoy ourselves on the nearby beach. Lots of ways to get to Small Hope Bay, down the steps, through the town or by car (my preferred option) The swimming pool at the Villa was very clean, warm and suitable for the grandson's (aged 6 and 15 months). Overall the apartment was clean and comfortable although the duvet's were very thick and too warm for the lovely summer that we have just had. Maybe a summer tog would be possible? As this was a family friendly apartment I would have liked to have seen a proper stairgate and some protection at the lounge room window. The toddler would have loved to thrown everything out into the car park!! Overall though a value for money holiday, the washing machine and dryer were a godsend for £2. a time. We would definitely come again as the location is excellent and the hosts charming and friendly.
