“Perfect for birthday break”

Arrived to a warm welcome by our hosts with a tea tray in the guest lounge. Gareth took our bags to the Tennyson room, beautifully decorated with large bathroom. Plenty of natural light, comfortable bed and a modern tv/dvd player.
The guest house is on a quiet road with off road parking and within walking distance of several pubs and restaurants, also the 'old town' of Shanklin and the beach.
Breakfast was superb, large choice of cereals with fresh fruit followed by your choice of freshly cooked items from the menu - which included eggs benedict, full english, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and a 'special' of waffles with bacon and maple syrup.
Really enjoyed our two night stay and would love to go back for a further visit.

Room Tip: ground floor room available. Tennyson on the first floor was a corner room which overlooked the gar...

I had spent a whole evening on Trip advisor searching for somewhere special but not ostentatious over a wide area of the south and west coast of UK. And there was Old Shanklin Guest House on the Isle of Wight, just two hours from home door to door including a relaxing ferry crossing. Better than going to France and much quicker. Sarah & Gareth welcomed us like old friends and that's one of the reasons why they are so successful, along with the super comfortable rooms and magnificient and highly imaginative breakfast menus. Our Bonchurch Suite was large and hugely comfortable and worth the modest aditional cost. They recommended us to some fantastic local restaurants and pubs that would put many high-end establishments on the mainland to shame. We were lucky with the last of the October good weather for our four day break and saw most of the Island. Old Shanklin Guest House was a joy to return to each evening and the restaurants were only a short stroll round the corner.so the car stayed safely in their car park. We have no hestitation in recommending Sarah & Gareth's hospitality whatever the time of year. We will return.

Room Tip: if you want the largest bedroom & bathroom, with bath and walk-in shower, then go for the Bonchur...

This guesthouse was perfect - last minute stay when another holiday fell through, and we were absolutely delighted. It is quiet, beautifully appointed, comfortable and spotless. Gareth and Sarah are warmly welcoming, but not intrusive. The breakfast was top rate. We would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We had the St Helen's Room, wonderfully spacious, quiet, and gets the morning sun.

A warm welcome, clean and very pleasantly appointed room, fantastic breakfast and very close to the centre of Shanklin. If you like the old fashioned English pubs they are there in abundance with the locals making you very welcome and many with entertanment provided by local preformers. I've also had some of the best food ever recommended by Sarah and she never failed us. It's a home from home and you depart feeling like you've left friends behind, we'll be back!

Room Tip: They're all excellent!

Warm welcome, tastefully decorated house and room, clean, super breakfast with local produce, lovely bread, convenient location in Old Shanklin. We had the Tennison Room which was excellent value for money. No hesitation in recommending this lovely B&B

The earlier reviews say it all, Gareth and Sarah are perfect hosts and provide five star accommodation with the best cooked breakfasts we've ever had at any B&B anywhere in the world. We have no hesitation in recommending Old Shanklin Guest House as the best place to stay on the Isle of Wight - use Shanklin as your base if you have a car as there is no need to stay anywhere else on the island!

Room Tip: The Tennyson room was perfect and when talking to other guests they were all very impressed with the...

My wife and I returned to Shanklin after spending our honeymoon there many many years ago. How glad we were that we found the Old Shanklin Guest House. Gareth & Sarah were perfect hosts and could not have been more welcoming. The breakfasts were great. The room was spotless and well appointed with ample supplies of tea, coffee and toiletries. The guest house is ideally situated for visiting local attractions and walks, many restuarants and pubs are a short stroll away. We had a great time and will be returning to sample more of the breakfast menu.
