As ever on reading reviews they can be mixed. We (2 adults, 1 child) arrived midday on Saturday. Our room was ready and was excellent!! We had a family suite and it consisted of a main double room, separate bedroom with a single bed and bunk beds. The whole suite was spotlessly clean and nice and warm.
The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. We only ate breakfast and that was fine, a typical hotel fry up but lots of fruit and cereal.
Good location for Shanklin or travelling elsewhere on the island. All in all, perfect value.

Room Tip: Try to bag a family room, we had room 31 and it was excellent

We brought 48 bellringers here last week and the hotel staff couldn't do enough for us. They are friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and service in the restaurant was the best we have had after taking this group away for many years. We had to be off early each day to ring so they started breakfast service early and we were all fed and watered in three quarters of an hour. The rooms were all clean and although the swimming pool area could do with a make-over the pool itself was lovely. We just wish we could take this hotel and it's staff with us on all our trips. Thanks to Amelia, her girls and all the staff for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, although the view is limited, they get the most sun.

Called to book on the ferry on the way over and my booking was taken without any hassle. Stayed for three nights. Good comfortable rooms, nice freindly and helpful staff without being too pretentious, happy to have a chat. Breakfast was served quickly and was nice and clean on the mornings I was not too hungover to enjoy it! The season was only just starting so i'm guessing it gets a bit busier peak summer, but even so they had some entertainment laid on in the evenings for the people that were there. The hotel is situated in a really great place where you can walk into Shanklin and the restaurants and bars that go with it. My room had a great seaview and had everything i needed, shower etc. Good value and a great stay.

Had a lovely holiday at this hotel. It was warm and clean. Comfy beds. Friendly staff; nothing was too much trouble. Sara especially worked very hard to please everyone. Food was good and plentiful. Entertainment every evening.
A very good choice by Williams Coach Travel, Cornwall.

Stayed at this hotel as a weekend break, Friendly staff made it easy and straight forward to book over the phone. Greeted by more friendly staff on arrival. The hotel is in a good location, near the beach via a slope and a short walk to the shops and restaurants in Shanklin. The rooms could do with a bit of a make over, and the bed not too comfy, was great to have a nice sea view. Rooms could do with deadlocks on the door, rather than just a key, The indoor pool looked great, but was really cold. Overall a good weekend.

Decide to take a last minute break with friends on the Isle of Wight. Googled a few hotels and came up with the Melbourne Ardenlea in Shanklin. Rang direct rather than go through booking agents the person who answered the phone was very helpful and did us a nice discount and also sorted the ferry for us as well. On arrival staff very helpful and directed us to our rooms. The doors to the rooms have the old fashioned mortice locks which means you have to manually lock the doors when coming and going. The room we were allocated was not very clean, the cream coloured carpet had stains in various places and it looked as if no one had cleaned under the bed in ages. There were cobwebs throughout the bedroom and bathroom. Old style single glazed windows that have seen better days. Overall the decor is very tired and the hotel as a whole is in dire need of refurbishment. All the staff we came in to contact with were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, plenty of variety for all tastes. Location to the beach is good but those less mobile will find the steep hill very difficult. Swimming pool was freezing and jacuzzi was out of order.

Room Tip: Rooms 40 and 42 have a good sea view

We booked this hotel mainly because of the location and the indoor pool for the children. The location and staff were good but everything else was such a disappointment. Rooms are extremely dated and bathrooms desperately in need of refurbishment. Swimming pool was freezing and noone was brave enough to go in. Really this hotel is only good for stags or cheap coach trips! Really a shame as the staff were nice. VERY overpriced for what you get.

Room Tip: We had interconnecting rooms 50 and 51 which are the furthest away from any noise.
