We always make a point of visiting the Paramount in the evenings when we are on holiday on the Island.
There is a waitress service here, but you can order take away meals too. It is not obvious from the street but the restaurant is fully equipped with fish frying equipment as well as sophisticated coffee making machines and all mod cons. The decor is a little spartan and functional but everywhere is spotlessly clean and we are made to feel at home by the friendly staff.
The food is beyond perfection; the portions are enormous, and there is a good selection from the menu including starters - try the sizzling hot garlic mushrooms - a real treat. As well as the sublime fish and chips there is a good range of main courses. We like the fact that the plates are piping hot and the food is brought to your table quickly after your order is submitted. You can have mashed potatoes instead of chips and an impressive selection of vegetables are served with your main meal - all cooked freshly and to your liking - we prefer our veg "al dente". Tea is served in generous sized mugs and there is a great selection of desserts - not that we always manage a dessert as we are so full from the main course.
The opening times are sometimes a bit limited (especially in the Winter) so be sure to make a note of the times to avoid disappointment. The owners have a Facebook page where the opening times are updated regularly so we always check this when we are on the Island.
We extend a warm thank you to the owner, Jon and look forward to our next meal at the Paramont in 2013.
