“Pleasant but not great”

It was busy on the Isle of Wight due to bank holiday weekend. When we walked into this restaurant at 8pm, there were about 2-3 tables free. We were told they could seat us but wanted the table back in 40mins as they were busy. We were fine as we were famished and planned to go for drinks somewhere else after the meal. The service was slow, we had to repeat the order a few times to the flustered waiter but he seemed young and really trying so we brushed that off. The started came quickly but then it all went a bit pear shaped. The mains took 1 hour and 30 mins!! Ironically the restaurant pretty much had cleared out within 30mins of sitting down...there were no queues or demanding customers and there obviously was a hold up in the kitchen. Even after asking 3 times when we would receive our mains we didnt receive any apology or any recognition that we were even there. The owner, a seemingly lovely lady who chatted warmly to repeat customers didn't seem to really care about our situation - even though she was the one who said they needed the table in 40mins.
Finally when the food arrived it was just OK. The pad ka pow (one of my fav dishes from thailand) was bland. The sizzling beef was really good though.
I think if they took care of their NEW customers and did some dishes better it has potential to be pretty decent place. Kind of wished I tried the other Thai place up the road instead.

Nothing to dislike - good value, nice choice on the menu in a popular busy restaurant! Would definitely visit again on any subsequent visit.

The restaurant is very spacious and is clean. The staff seem to all be from the same family, and are courteous and helpful. Whilst being available all the time, they were very non-intrusive, which is something that most people appreciate.

Food arrived quickly, was well presented and had a simple homemade taste. The selection of prawn crackers did have some pretty strong flavours though.

The food quality and the service stood out here.
We ate here on a Sunday evening and the restaurant allowed us to book a table at 9.30 and then waited patiently with us as the last diners to work our way through two courses of nice Thai food.
Reasonable value, good food and great service, so we are happy to recommend.
