We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Foxhills and it couldn't have been better. James and Paula go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome and that your every need is catered for, I can't recommend this lovely hotel highly enough!! Paula's breakfasts and other snacks are of the highest standard and James' attention to detail and hospitality is second to none!!

James and Paula gave us a warm welcome on arrival and their attention to our needs continued throughout our stay. The breakfast in the morning was spectacular with plenty of choice. The room was great. Their system of getting guests to rate the local restaurants meant we had lots of reviews to help us select where to eat of an evening.

We have just returned from yet another visit to this lovely hotel in Shanklin on the isle of wight. If you have never visited the island before this is a lovely hotel to stay for great hospiltality, very high standards of cleansleness and a very good selection of tasty cooked breakfasts and choices of fruits, cereals and preserves. We return again and again simply because why go somewhere else when you have all your needs met at foxhills.! I think if you are visiting from overseas you will enjoy the lovely british elegance of this hotel with very welcoming hosts. Nothing is too much for them to help you enjoy your stay and the jacuzzi is that added touch of relaxation if so wish. We never want to leave. When we arrive home we always plan when we are going to return. We have stayed in many different accomondations around the island before Foxhills we wont be staying anywhere else in the future except here. Its the best. Try it you wont be dissappointed.

We only booked one night as it was a flying visit to meet up with friends, Ian & Ali from Wizards Thatch, who we met whilst filming, four in a bed. They were staying at another location on the island. We have our own b&b in Hastings, Northrise Lodge.
We picked Foxhills because of the lovely reviews & we were not disappointed in anyway.
When we arrived we were warmly greeted by James who came out to greet us & took our luggage for us. We were given a lovely tour of Foxhills, we didn't get time to use the hot tub but it looked fabulous. There is a lovely guests lounge & breakfast dining room, also a garden for guests to relax in, we had a pot of tea & chocolates out there, which was a lovely treat after a long journey.
Everywhere all the public areas & bedrooms, bathrooms were spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was in our room. The bed for us was a little hard, but that's personal choice.
The breakfast was presented beautifully & tasted amazing. Plenty to choose from, cereal, fruit, James & much more.
It was a shame we only had one night as would love to of stayed longer :-) we will definitely book again & be back to Foxhills.
Thank you for a great stay & superb hospitality.
Andrea & Nick

Room Tip: Book direct as James also booked our ferry crossing for us, which made life easier :-)

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Welcoming, lovely room, immaculately clean. Breakfast was exceptional, lots of choice with a huge hot menu to choose from.
We really like the restaurant review system that they have. A card is placed on each breakfast table so that guests can comment on where they ate the previous evening. This builds into a useful library of current reviews so we were able to make some good choices of restaurants in Shanklin. Fine Nammet and Pendletons in the old village were both excellent and only five minutes walk away.
As for the previous review we also had the Osborne room, although the shower isn't great it is clearly a shower head to rinse yourself off in the bath rather than a power shower so we had no problems with lovely long baths.
All in all a fabulous guest accommodation that goes the extra mile. We would definitely recommend. Thank you James and Paula yet again, we will be returning.

Booked for 2 nights, first time in a guesthouse for many years and have to admit that I am more used to staying in 4/5 star hotels these days so have to admit my expectations were very high. So ok why did I choose a guesthouse you might ask? Well guesthouses are plentiful on the island and the reviews on trip advisor reported Foxhills to be of very high quality, so I thought I would choose it for our weekend away rather than a hotel. I am happy to report that it is a pleasant well maintained guesthouse with a lot of charm and very friendly attentive staff.

We stayed in the Osborne room which had a four poster bed, unfortunately I found this very small and not the most comfortable bed, in hindsight I think I should had chosen the superior room but believe this was already booked the weekend we chose, and admittedly thought that the four poster sounded romantic. The room was victorian styled, absolutely spotlessly clean as was the bathroom which was large and unusually for a bathroom these days, carpeted. I have to say that the room loses points because of the shower, whilst looking good, was awful, it really was a dance around to try and get wet and rinse soap off, a real let down. The room faced the main road although traffic could be heard it really wasn't that busy so not a problem. As the bedroom doors were very thin any conversations in the hall ways could easily be heard in the room.

Breakfast was plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. I don't think I could agree that the food was to die for though, just fine and plenty of it. I wasn't keen on the satisfaction survey that was on the table every morning, I don't feel this is necessary and get tired off everyone expecting a completed survey for every movement we make these days. I didn't complete one at all, wanted to save my thoughts for Tripadvisor.

Foxhills is well placed for Shanklin old village about 5 minutes walk away. There are plenty of maps available and if you needed any guidance or directions James was more than happy to assist.

My review is purely my thoughts and feelings and like I said I am more used to modern hotels. Having said that Foxhills is a charming comfortable guest house and one of the nicest I have stayed in.

Room Tip: The rooms at the rear are probably quieter being as they are away from the road.
