Everything you read about this hotel is true. I feel sorry for anyone staying elsewhere in the IOW. - From the initial welcome to the final goodbye. Thank you James for a lovely stay. And wow.... the massage was lovely and put the cherry on the weekend cake. We will be back.

Due to work l stay in many hotels but this one was the most enjoyable and relaxing.
James was the perfect host and this left me with a feeling of staying with friends for a few days. Bed was so comfortable l did not want to get out of it in the morning for work. Breakfast was lovely, well deserving of the awards and star ratings, service fault less, nothing was to much trouble. The llittle extras that the owners have put into this hotel, information about walks, places to vist or eat, dressing gowns, news papers, home made jams etc etc make all the difference. Do not expect a modern hotel with flat screen tv's etc but expect a warm welcome, comfortable, clean wonderful place to stay, l can not wait to return.

We had a wonderful visit to Shanklins over the weekend. The best thing about the place is the owners. James is truly a wonderful host - in advance of our trip he sent through very useful information (including bike hire info), on arrival he was welcoming and hospitable and throughout our stay he was nothing but helpful and friendly. We arranged bikes to be delivered to shanklins and James loaned us maps and guides which were great.

The property is lovely and has been refurbished with much love and care. We really enjoyed the large common spaces as there was a small group of us travelling together so it was nice to spend time together (not in our rooms) relaxing with shanklin's very strong cocktails!

Myself and my partner visited the Isle of Wight as he was on business and i came along for the ride! I chose 'Foxhills' as it had such great reviews and believe me it lives up to every one of them.
James is fantastic, really looks after you and so kind.
The entire building is spotless and the rooms are extremely clean, Foxhills is very central to Shanklin town centre (5 minute walk) but yet peasefully quiet.
Would definatley recommend Foxhills.
BIG THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY WEEK.

Greeted by James who took our luggage to our rooms. We were then given a tour of the hotel . Our room was clean with a large comfortable bed. Wonderful breakfast. Relaxing spa. As part of the stay I had a facial (and good advice for sunburnt legs!) Most mornings I had a wonderful walk by the sea. Not far to go to any places of interest throughout the island. Travelled mostly by car but bus services good.Would stay again with no hesitation.

I chose Foxhills after reading the consistently good reviews on Tripadvisor for a weekend break to celebrate my wife's birthday, and we could not have been happier with our stay. We would have no hesitation in going back or recommending to others.

The owner James was extremely helpful from start to finish - he replied promptly to my initial email enquiry and nothing was too much trouble (including sorting out the ferry tickets for us at very short notice). We were looking for a really comfortable place to base ourselves at and explore the island for the weekend and Foxhills was ideal.

The service / atmosphere was just right for us - friendly and unobtrusive and the owners have good local knowledge of the island and are happy to advise on routes and things to see / do on the island.

Others have mentioned the breakfast, but this was a real highlight so is worth re-iterating! Shanklin had a good selection of restaurants with something for everyone, all within 10mins walk of Foxhills.

Our room was nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and very spacious with a large bedroom area, separate en suite bathroom and a small dressing area.

I thought the overall price including the ferry crossing was very reasonable too.

I stayed at Foxhills in June 2010 and had a beautiful room with views of the woods, the owners Paula and James were excellent hosts and were very approachable and friendly, not to mention the beautiful cocktail I would recommend to everyone "long island iced tea". The breakfast was excellent, best sausages ever tasted and scrambled egg was amazing. Very clean and excellent standard of decor/furnishing throughout the hotel but with a homely feel. Shanklin was such a pretty place to stay with great places to wine and dine. Would recommend Foxhills and Shanklin as a great place to stay - can't wait to go back.
