Having never been to the island before I was advised by my companion that she had been very pleased with the service an accommodation at this hotel. So, when we arrived we were ushered to our room that was at the rear of the premises that as it turned out was situated overlooking the sea with a self contained private sitting room and an outside balcony (very swish). The room itself was very comfortable and clean with the usual tea/coffee making facilities. The only downside was that if you were requiring a TV (there was one in the room) unfortunately the Isle of Wight suffers from having to put up with bad signals (I understand the hotel is changing over to satellite so hopefully this problem will be solved). The food was extremely good with a varied menu over the 4 nights that we stayed, bar and lounge were also well presented all staff were very attentive with a view that nothing was to much trouble if requested, morning papers are available at the reception first thing in the morning. The indoor swimming pool and sauna were an added bonus with respect the my short stay. Definitely a hotel that I would return too if I visit the Isle again. Good parking.

Room Tip: If all rooms like ours then no problem where you are in the hotel.

We arrived to clean rooms friendly service and staff and excellent spacious room with a four poster bed and ensuite bathroom amazing views over Shanklin and Sandown Emma myself and Marley had a great Time ! we had an indoor swimming pool ,fantastic bar area ,games room with TV Marley played with the train by the fireplace and that kept him occupied for a while, on the holiday the weather wasn't great but we made the most of what we had we had! at 8:15 am we went down for breakfast which was amazing from English breakfast ,croissant toast and cereals with fresh fruit we never went hungry. I would like to personally thank the staff for all there efforts that ensured we had the best stay possible, nothing was too much trouble! I went as a child with my family now I have grown up I am bringing my own! Marley did not want to leave! And a Big thank you to the Bowling team for making us laugh ! Shanklin is a beautiful place

I have just returned from a three night bed and breakfast stay. The hotel was lovely, spotlessly clean and that included my room. Towels changed and rooms serviced every day with loads of hot running water for the bath and shower. Beautiful gardens which you could sit in for most of the day with sun. Friendly and very helpful staff which made my stay as a solo traveler easier. The cooked breakfast was lovely and a good variety at breakfast. The indoor heated pool and sauna were lovely and is great that it stays open late.

The hotel is in a great location especially for the cliff walk and close to the esplanade, old town, train station and shops, you don't need a car if you dont want to take one.

All in all a lovely break surrounded by beautiful scenery will definitely be going back back.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view such lovely views.

A very nice hotel managed by a family for many years. However, we, in our case, a family with a 2 year old were very dissappointed as they did not show any flexibility in terms of check out (10h30) and we were not permitted to utilise the facility after check out as we needed it for our baby ( despite that when we asked our first night, they assured us it will be ok)
Above that we were treated very rudely by an employee who was very impolite. The hotel owner was trying to arrange things but it was too late. Maybe the fact that we were foreigners did not help or can explain her attitude!

We had a lovely stay at the Brunswick for 6 nights. Very good value and ferry crossing arranged by the hotel which was much appreciated.Staff very helpful and settled any query without hesitation. Beautiful old fashioned English well run hotel and excellent position on the cliff allowing walks down to the promenade and beach and bars. Being so close to Shanklin old village and all that it offers was fantastic.

Our room was very spacious and big bathroom on the ground floor, lovely and quiet and cool. The hotel garden is delightful to relax in especially as we had a very hot week and could enjoy sunbathing and the small outdoor pool which was refreshingly cold! No parasols in the garden were evident and not many sunbeds but perhaps they were available if asked for more. Indoor pool like a bath, the environment a bit too hot to be in for too long but that was because it was so hot outside!
Breakfast was good but could do with a change of fruits and perhaps some croissants on some days as always exactly the same. Evening meal served a bit early for us as had to be in restuarant before 745pm, but this was seemigly the same in several of the restuarants that we went to!
Our stay in the Brunswick was lovely and we would recommend it, thank you.

Room Tip: Higher floor allows the window to be open all night with reassurance of safety, but we didnt feel th...

We stayed at the Brunswick hotel for a family get together, the youngest being 4 and the eldest 81. The hotel catered for all our ages, lovely indoor and outdoor pool ( a very sunny weekend ! )Excellent location with gorgeous sea views, bedrooms old fashioned but spotless and very well maintained, lovely garden and lounges with beautiful seaviews. We had a family room consisting of 2 bedrooms in the annex that would have been fantastic apart from the awful noise that the floor made just walking across it. We have a 4 year old daughter who is an early riser and my husband took her off to the beach around 7.30 each morning as we didn't want to disturb the rooms below! ( it was my mum and family friends who were below) We live in a house that is nearly 100 years old and are used to creaky floors but this was much worse than just creaks! The food was also a bit hit and miss, some meals fantastic others, very lacking. Simple things like running out of custard and vanilla icecream( 2 nights in a row) spoiled our desserts and at breakfast one morning we could only laugh at the amount of baked beans served, I think as we were breakfasting around 9am they must have been running low!! Perhaps you are wondering why I am giving 4stars but I can honestly say that even with these problems we had a great weekend.

We had a wonderful stay at the Brunswick. We needed a hotel that was close to our wedding venue, this was just round the corner within walking distance. The staff we exceptionally friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating. Our family room which had a separate room for the children, was sparkling clean, and Charlotte our chamber maid could not have done more for us to make our weekend so special. The hotel is perfectly situated on the cliff path and close tot en town for a wonderful holiday and we would have liked to stay longer, so we may just have to return!! Thank you all so much.
