“Very enjoyable meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

We had a very pleasant dinner here last week. We are a family of 8 & had 3 dogs with us, so finding somewhere nice to eat together is not always easy, but the Chine Inn were very welcoming. We were all seated and the dogs were welcomed & given dog biscuits & water. Our meals were all lovely. The fish pie & the meat pie were particular hits with our group. We would definitely recomend the chine inn to others.

“Great Pie!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

We visited The Chine Inn on the last night of our holiday in Shanklin; the phrase "leaving the best til last" could have been written for this meal.

The view is magnificent, the staff are very friendly and attentive and food is superb. The restaurant has a huge focus on local produce and producing the best home cooked food you'll taste in any pub. They have some great ales and they look after them very well.

I had the Lamb Pie which was just superb and even too much for my very "healthy" appetite. This place is an absolute MUST visit and do so at the start of your holiday so you can get to go again .... perfect!

“Great meal with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

We had a fantastic time at The Chine Inn. Many nights before we have had drinks, so we decided to try the meals provided. Brilliant to see local produce being sourced and used! My family and I cannot say how much we love the place. Firstly the meals were well prepared, and there was a good selection available for all tastes. The staff were welcoming and inviting and we are happy to say that The Chine Inn is our favourite stop out for the holiday and we will recommend.

Thank you for the brilliant meal! And we are sure to visit again.

“Disappointing visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

Visited here on a Sunday. Reserved the table at lunchtime for 7.30pm that evening and was advised last food orders at 8.30pm.

Served drinks quickly but despite asking a member of staff if they would be kind enough to take our order we waited 30 minutes before our food order was taken and another 30 minutes before we served our food, total of 1 hour for food.

We did speak with the waiter twice regarding the delays and he advised that last orders were 7.30pm despite us advising we were told 8.30pm during our earlier telephone conversation. Other tables came in just before and one large party in a private room about the same time as us. It would have been helpful if waiter had advised re the last order timing when we arrived (we arrived 10 minutes before our table was book so there was ample opportunity) and that there might be a delay due to a large party arriving. Waiter aware that we did not receive good service and had waited a long time to be served as after we had paid the money he advised that we would receive a free course next time, advised this was our last night but no offer of a refund. Food ok but overall disappointing visit.

“Unpleasant staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

When asking for a Pint Grigio Rose guy on bar said there is not a Rose, only a white pinot, obviously does not know his wines. At the same time staff were rude to to a German gentleman when he asked for a particular coffee, just the way they spoke to him and myself. Then table my wife and I sat at had a big piece of the table missing from the corner. I was recommended to visit this pub, but I will not be going again.
