Stayed at this hotel on 21st of Oct 2013 for four nights. It was a package holiday with "Just go Holidays" after being "sanitised" by Steve the owner, myself & my partner were allocated room "25". Our first impression was "broom cupboard", but we were delighted to se a hanging basket outside the window, on cleaning the condensation from the glass, the hanging basket turned out to be a large growth of weeds in the rain gutter. Later when we looked at the front of the hotel, all the gutters had weeds in them. The window frame was covered in black mould, and of course mould releases spoors, so not at all healthy. The bathroom was so small and cramped, there was more mould around the bath and on the wall tiles. The toilet was positioned between the bath and wall, in a space not more than 20inches wide, it would not be suitable for the larger person. There were no grab handles in the bath/shower, there was a electric towel rail over the bath, this is the only thing to steady yourself when getting in or out of the bath/shower, "Health & Safety" issue, an electric shock waiting to happen!!!. Because the bathroom is so small, to dry youself the door has to be open, not really ideal. The stool for use at the dressing table was filthy, when my partner used it she had to cover it with a towel. The television was of the tube type, it was on a bracket at the right height to hit your head on. The room did not smell very nice, it seems that because there is no ventilation in the bathroom, nasty smells can get into the room.
Needless to say we will be reluctant to book any more holidays with "Just go". It seems they are going down market.
The food was good, but you need a decent room to make a holiday.

Room Tip: Keep away from room "25"

Room was filthy, bed sheets were too small for the bed, toilet seat not on properly so I fell off into the glass shower screen. Towel rail was falling off the walk. Dead Flies on the very dusty dirty window cill. On the bright side the staff were friendly, and the food was good, good breakfast and good evening meal. I would not stay here again through choice.

We have just returned from a 5 day mini-break with Just Go Coaching Holidays and have to say that after booking the holiday, we were approaching it with anticipation and with some trepidation. The former as it was my wife's first ever trip to the I of W and I had not been for 30yrs and the latter due to reading some of the revues posted here. Whilst I'm sure there are those who would feel it extremely arrogant of us to say so, here is a truly unbiased and honest account of our holiday. Our experience just does not tally with what some have written on this forum, and we would question their reliability and truthfulness. Steve, the proprietor, was/is an extremely outgoing individual with a dry sense of humour, somewhat similar to ours, however, if this clashes with someone else's personality, we can see how it might be interpreted as arrogant, but it is not, it is being confident and gregarious. Dawn was also very pleasant and friendly, as, indeed, were all the staff at the hotel. Our room was clean and tidy, and everything worked as it should. It was, however, a little dated, but this is what is known as "a typical provincial hotel". On a budget holiday, this hotel is not meant to be King Solomon's Temple, with it's abundance of riches. The bed was comfortable and the linen clean and fresh, and the room was replenished properly and fully each day (clean towels, tea-making facilities etc). The dining room was also clean and hygenic, along with all the other communal areas that we frequented during our short stay. The food was tasty and plentiful, although Steve's claim upon arrival that there were 5 choices for dinner was a little misleading (although true) as this consisted of a vegetarian option, option of the day or a carvery with a choice of three different meats. We have to state, that we have never been given as much meat at a carvery sitting as we were at the Holliers. Entertainment was provided and included on three of the four nights of our stay, with Steve and Dawn in attendance, which we thought was a refreshing change from some hotels we have stayed at whereby "mein hosts" make themselves scarce and unavailable to their customers, and the drinks were reasonable priced as well!! It was just a shame that the entertainer was being drowned out at times by the handful of selfish cretins in our party that were making a lot of noise and a nuisance of themselves to the detriment of others. We're not party pooopers, they went beyond having a good time. The same people that had to much to say about the hotel, but seemed incapable of modifying their own behaviour. We thought Steve and Dawn were magnificent in putting up with it. When we enquired about local info,it was forthcoming and accurate. The hotel occupies a wonderful prime position in Shanklin Old Village, only a short walk away from all the amenities Shanklin has to offer Now for a bit of criticism. Steve, we fully appreciate, possible more than most due to work, of what you were trying to achieve with the hand sanitiser, but I think your timing here is wrong. A vast majority of our coach party were whingeing about it all week. I think you need to put it at the end of your welcoming introduction, something along the lines of " and finally everyone and this is very very important, could you please.....etc etc ". Finally, and in conclusion, what a fantastic mini break we had and we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Our room, number 11 has a really comfortable bed and also looks out across the road at thatched prop...

I am not sure why it has such good reviews as the cleanliness of the place was terrible! We stayed here for one night (am very pleased to say) as it was a last minute booking and being height of season, we were lucky to get anywhere tbh. Ok, the staff were friendly BUT the food hall where they do the roasts was so very very dirty. Tacky, sticky floor, dreadful rips in the upholstery and food stains on the chairs that you sat on. Totally unacceptable for any hotel no matter what you are paying! Not ideal for taking your children of 5 yrs and a 3 month old baby. Yes, the roast dinner was very nice, but the deserts were nothing to get excited about.
The rooms are dated and need a revamp. Plus the outside garden we found a used nappy just thrown onto the lawn (which had obviously been there for some time!). We mentioned to a member of staff (twice!!!) to dispose of it. We just couldn't believe that nobody had spotted this before. Sorry, wont be staying again. Ok if you are without children and just happy to stay for one night while travelling around IOW.

On the island fir the day and loved the hotel, great roast at reasonable prices. Food well prepared and presented well. Deserts need to be upgraded and charged for rather than free. Manager whistled as he went round the dining room little off putting.

Room Tip: Did not stay but very nice
