“Excellent once again!”
Reviewed 27 August 2012

My husband and I returned to the Clifton and had yet another really good stay. Excellent standards of cleanliness. Rooms are well equipped. Very comfortable beds. Lots of choice at breakfast time and food cooked beautifully. The owners have carried out a number of improvements that all work well and are sympathetic to the character of the building. We particularly like the decked area for early eve drinks with its automated canopy and the lovely views across the bay. Excellent service at all times.

An attractive looking building in a row of hotels/guest houses on the cliff top. We had booked using a kgb voucher and paid a supplement for a balcony & sea view.
The food was good and resaonable priced.
My only gripe is that when we said that the white wine wasn't cold enough (and it really wasn't), we were told by the owner that it was. As I drink my fair share of wine, this rubbed me up the wrong way a bit!
The rest of the staff were all very friendly.

Room Tip: It was lovely sitting on the balcony with a book and a glass of wine

Thank you for your review, it is always pleasing to hear that guests enjoy our Bistro food which we always endeavor to keep at reasonable prices. I apologise if you felt that I was criticising your personal view on the temperature of wine, I was merely pointing out that the wine is kept in a wine fridge at the standard temperature of 3 degrees.

I found this hotel with a KGB deal but I had to change the dates and then had a problem with the voucher. No problem. Changing the dates was easy - bearing in mind I changed weeks in advance. As we finally arrived on a Sunday, the proprietor said that he could wait to receive the KGB voucher the next morning! The room was small but had plenty of drawer space and was very clean. Thanks to the KGB deal, my husband and I had a fee bottle of wine to use with our meal but we stayed for the food because the menu looked so good. We weren't disappointed. It was wonderful. Please see the photos taken below of the food from our first night. I didn't sleep particularly well but that's more because I don't tend to sleep well away from home than from anything about the hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms with a sea view are more expensive but, if my room was anything to go by, it was worth eve...

Have just spent 3 nights at The Clifton with our two boys, aged 11 and 9. It has a lovely atmosphere, with very friendly staff. Food was delicious, both at breakfast and for the evening meals - we ate in twice during our stay. We had a family room on the top floor - plenty of space with a double bed and bunk-beds for the children. Will definitely stay again when we next visit the Isle of Wight.

We stayed at the Clifton for 3 nights. My husband and I were treating my 70 year old dad for his birthday. Our rooms were very comfortable and dad was nearby in the room next door. We were treated very well - and one evening when dad wasn't feeling too well - the proprietors went out of their way to ensure he was comfortable. Breakfasts are brilliant too! Fresh fruit and a lovely cooked breakfast to set you up for the day. Thank you for helping to ensure we had a memorable visit to the Isle of Wight!
