Just got back from a two night stay at the Harrow Lodge Hotel in Shanklin. On arrival we were handed the keys to our room which was on the ground floor extension to the rear of the main property. When entering the room it was very cold but it is October so it is to be expected. Heating came on twice a day, once in the evening and once in the morning. Room was very clean, with fresh clean bedding and clean towels but the pillows were rock hard so I suggest bringing your own pillows!!! There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The downsides of staying in the extension were that the walls were paper thin! you could hear every noise from people staying in the other rooms. For example, in the middle of the night you could clearly hear so well a person in another room going to the toilet as if they were doing it on the floor! The bathroom was very small and not very spacious at all but very clean and the maids cleaned the room/bathroom every morning.

There was a breakfast service every morning which was lovely and very appetising. It was delivered by a friendly waitress who will endeavour to make sure you have everything you need.

All in all a pleasant enough stay, location was good for the town and the beach with a five minute walk to each. I would recommend to anyone who wanted somewhere to stay for a short break.

We stayed her for a week whilie we toured the island. The breakfast was good and the waitress lovely. The location was excellent and the view from our balcony of the sea was lovely. We had clean towels every day, which was lovely. Not so lovely was the tiny 'en-suite' - so small that we had to dry ourselves in the shower cubicle, the water did not drain away for several minutes, the water was either freezing cold or boiling hot, and the gap between the sliding door and the sink was so small that you could not stand without opening the door whilst cleaning your teeth. Not so lovely was the (approx) 6" gap between the bed and the window. Not so lovely was the fact that the bedding was never changed and in fact the bed was never made - just the duvet straightened! Not so lovely having a bottom sheet too small for the 2 single mattresses on our (supposed) double bed - every night it pinged off and every evening WE had to straighten it out. Not so lovely having cobwebs all over the ceiling, or a light in the loo that never worked.
We formed the impression that the owners wanted to cram as many rooms as possible into the building at the expense of the comfort of the visitors.
When paying the bill at the end of our stay we expected to be asked if all was OK - not surprisingly we were not! Very disappointed with this 'hotel' - would NOT recommend. Such a shame.

Room Tip: Dont stay there!

We stayed here for a week during our Isle of Wight cricket tour with Warboys CC. Our room was a bit small, but more than adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful & the food, although limited in choice, was excellent and inexpensive. Hopefully we're staying again next year!!

Room Tip: Located at the top of the cliffs with superb views out to sea and along the coast. It is very close...

Not to be recomended for customer care or concern as i found after takeing ill whilst stopping at this hotel which i have stopped at for the last few years.I was rushed into hospital and was advised to cut my holiday short by the doctor and go home and see my specialist I told the owner of the hotel and his answer was you not getting a refund which would have been £800 for the last week of our holiday; I know that he could have relet the family room because he was allready turning people away wanting famiily rooms.so if i had gone home early he would of let our room but i was not going to let him do that. but by stopping my helth deterated as i am termaniy ill. this was my last holiday with my grand children which left them and my wife distressed wondering if i would make it home.i did but under great duress so anybody thinkiing about boooking this hotel think twice. and if you need to know anything else about the hotel please free to email me on geraldgallagher@sky.com. I feel so strong about what happened to me i am seeking legal advice.and will persue a claim through the small claims court.

Room Tip: none at this hotel unless you carry a lot of travelle insurance

very friendly and excellent service. Gina was welcoming, accomodating and nothing was too much trouble, as was Donna. Thank you ladies!
it was nice to stay somewhere where it's clear the priority is customer service. As a solo traveller I was completely comfortable and made to feel welcome.
would definately consider staying here again.
