My husband and I stayed for 2 nights two weeks ago,we went by red funnel, from Southampton, when we got off the ferry,it took about 40 minutes to get to the hotel, when we arrived, the reception staff were very nice,we got showed to our room, and it was very nice, but wanted a sea view,so we asked to be moved, and paid £25 to be upgraided ,the new room was very spacious, and had a lovely view,I thought we could of been upgraded for free,as the hotel was very empty,we had a bed and breakfast accommodation, there are some lovely pubs and restaurants in walking distance, but it wasn't that busy, because of the time of year, breakfast was really nice, you had a lot of choice and catered for everyone's needs, staff were lovely, yes I would recommend this hotel, and I expect in the summer it's wonderful

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view they are really lovely

Went on a last minute deal offer, for my husband's birthday. Although freezing, we had a couple of nice sunny days, amazed to see those big Mimosa trees in full bloom! In view of aged clientele, were surprised there wasn't rooms with showers. Were offered to use the shower in pool area, which had no light and flooded. Not exactly convenient, as lack of facilities there. The pool was cold too and jacuzzi could have been hotter. Nice, comfortable room, but not well insulated, we could hear people above and their bathroom extractor fan which was, as ours, extremely noisy. Would be useful to have a decent light above mirror for make -up.
But we enjoyed our stay, the food was very good, the staff excellent, Jack in particular. The entertainment was great, we must congratulate "Tom Jones" and the "4 Tops", as it must be difficult to get such a small crowd going, but they managed it. And on Sunday Dave Cannon sound and vision show was very professional and my husband just loved it, it made his stay worthwhile. Would visit again.

Room Tip: maybe ask for a room on top floor, as the one we had was at the end of long corridors, too many step...

My wife and I have just stayed at the Shanklin Hotel for the first time having been on the Isle of Wight may times over the past 40 years. We found the hotel to be very clean and well equipped -- the staff very friendly and the food excellant. We payed a little extra for a sea view spacious room and this was well worth it. The view were stunning overlooking the bay across to Sandown and Culver Downs. The weather was below feezing most of the four dya we were there but at no time were we cold inside the hotel. We would reccomend this hotel without hesitation and it may not been the cheapest but is certainly value for money if you want that little bit extra.

Room Tip: We had room number 37 which like others had been re-furbished.

Had a very enjoyable 5 day break at The Shanklin Hotel. The sea view room was very comfortable
and was spotlessly clean as was the whole hotel. Delicious food and lovely staff.
Would certainly recommend to family and friends and will hopefully come back next spring/summer.

We have just returned from a 4 night 5 day Valentine break at the Shanklin hotel with C.B.Tours. Excellent food, both in quality & presentation, clean & comfortable rooms. Staff are very polite & helpful & we had great entertainment, especially Anycia. The hotel laid on a wine reception & a champagne reception also tea & cake one day. There are short mat bowls, swimming pool & table tennis & snooker so there is plenty to do. we will certainly be back.
