Stayed 2 nights here with friends. Excellent value as the package included breakfast and dinner for both nights of our stay. Also included was the car ferry which is a great saving. The hotel is a bit dated but that it not a problem. Rooms were very clean and comfortable if a bit too hot as the heating was on which was not necessary as it was very warm outside so we slept with our windows open all night! The staff are very friendly. Food was varied and very good and served with a smile - thank you Justyna! It is in a central location and an easy walk to all that Shanklin has to offer. Our only criticism would be that the sauna took a long while to warm up (we gave 45 minute notice!) but can understand that it is not economical to leave on all day. Indoor pool was an added bonus and it was a shame the jacuzzi was out of action. Would definately return.

Just spent a week at this hotel and we couldnt have asked for a more relaxed and comfortable
stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the Staff they were welcoming and always cheerful. There were three coach trips in whilst we were there and the dining room Staff coped admirably,
their system seemed to run like clockwork. We had Clair who was lovely and always had a smile on her face. The entertainment was good, some nights better than others, all in all an enjoyable week. Our room was nicely decorated, the bathroom was small but adequate, and we had a view of the sea. Even the weather was perfect the whole week.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and faced the sea, I presume that is south east as the sun came up into...

We had a lovely break at The Shanklin Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The food was of a high standard and the waitress was very helpful. A special mention to the receptionist Emma, a very friendly and pleasant lady whom we had a lovely conversation with. Overall a lovely stay here, we will definitely return again and highly recommend this hotel to friends.

We always return to the Shanklin Hotel. The staff are all friendly (however on our arrival this time, a receptionist on duty was not too happy!) But, ignoring this minor point, everything was spot on, from the room, to the breakfast, the dinner - no complaints at all!
We try and visit twice a year and have no reason to go anywhere else!

The room was good as it seemed to have been recently refurbished, even though it could be noisy with people going through all the fire doors in the corridors and some who needed their televisions on very loudly.
Although the food was generally good (apart from it being smothered in gravy or sauce) the service at dinner time was far too quick and our four courses were completed and cleared away in around 30 minutes which didn't give you time to enjoy the food. If you were there towards the end of the service, the waiting staff were looking at their watches, the lights were dimmed which implied they wanted to get rid of you. .
On the other hand the bar staff were not very fast. On the first night we took our drinks into the restaurant which is probably the best idea On night 2 the wine waited appeared just as we sat down and having asked for a couple more minutes to make a choice, we never saw him again. The third night we asked the waitress to send him along so we could order wine, but no-one came so again they lost out on bar sales..
All in all, the hotel has tremendous potential and is ideally situated, but it just needs bar/waiting staff who can understand the customers' needs. At least Josh kept us amused!

Room Tip: The top floor may well be quieter.

We also went with a coach party ( our first ) and were pleasantly surprised with our room and the quality of the food also the staff were friendly and efficient. Although the hotel is high up we used the cliff lift to the beach and then it it is a level walk to Sandown with plenty of seats to rest on the way. We would definitely use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room large & sunny also quiet.

the hotel was somewhat dated the rooms were modern but the hotel itself needs a bit of updating. The staff were excellent and friendly. Overall the price of the hotel was decent as the location was perfect for the beach and the village.
