I love Shanklin as I grew up here. I needed somewhere to stay as I was coming down to the IOW on business for a few days. The Belmont turned out to be a wonderful choice. Lovely cosy room overlooking the sea and the church and wonderful breakfasts. Am happy that I will be coming back for another 2 nights next week.A big thank you.

We had a short 2 night stay at the Belmont, having never stayed on the IOW before and we couldn't have wished for a better hotel. Linda and Des gave us a very warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The room was superb, excellent breakfasts with a wide choice and a good menu for evening food if you so wished. The hotel is situated in a good location for an easy walk either to the promenade or to the old village. We had a very good relaxing break and look forward to staying again! Thank you! Sandy & Ray

We've recently returned from the Belmont, travelling as two couples. When we read the reviews we wondered if it really could be that good? It was better than that!
Lyn and Des welcome you as old friends, and nothing is too much trouble. We had Room 17 which was superb, as was the Four Poster booked for my parents as a belated anniversary surprise.
We ate in the hotel on the first night due to our teatime arrival. Food was sooooooo good that we then ate in every night. Breakfasts were equally as good, plenty of choice, and freshly cooked/prepared.
Tea & Coffee in the lounge and cake, was a lovely gesture and very welcome after returning from touring the Island.
All in all a wonderful few days, would have no hesitation in recommending, and will definitely be coming back.

Room Tip: We had two excellent rooms, number 17 (on the front) and number 8 (Four Poster at the back overlooki...

We travelled as a couple from the mainland via ferry and train and the Belmont is only a short cheap taxi ride away from the station at Shanklin. Although there is a good area for parking, you can have lovely break without a car at the Belmont as the bus stops nearby serve buses which cover the whole island.

Our room on the first floor (Room 15) overlooks the sea and was lovely and warm on a cold November day. The bed is large and comfortable, and the room is huge, with a sofa, large flat screen TV, toiletries, soft fluffy towels, warm powerful shower, biscuits, tea/coffee, iron, ironing board, hairdryer and even binoculars thoughtfully provided to study the extensive shipping in the Solent nearby.

There have been many improvements since our last visit... a larger buffet area in the dining room, a superb grandfather clock in the lounge, improved décor in the bar area and a feeding station - visible from the dining room - for the red squirrels that frequent the garden. We love the special touches; a varied breakfast menu which can be adjusted to suit individual tastes, the fruit smoothies at breakfast, the complementary tea and coffee in the luxurious lounge downstairs, and the friendly helpful and humourous reception from Des and Lyn who clearly love their role as hosts and provide valuable information, print outs and maps of the places you intend to visit. Being local to the Island, there is nothing that they do not know about the attractions and walks and they will be able to help you with advice about car parking.

As usual, we had a very peaceful night - the bar is just below us but the hotel has good soundproofing and there is no leakage of noise. Other facilities at the hotel include the comfortable sauna, and there is an outdoor pool in the grounds. If you are not inclined to go out for an evening meal, then Des and Lyn provide a comprehensive menu of meals that can be taken at the well-stocked bar which has a few tables set aside for dining.

We will certainly return in February 2014 and look forward to another relaxing break at the Belmont

Room Tip: We recommend room 15 on the first floor with a lovely view of the sea, a large warm comfortable room...

We travelled as 3 couples and our friend did all the arranging. I hadn't paid much attention to the details of the trip only absorbing that we were going to the Isle of Wight. My husband and I had an absolutely brilliant time at the Belmont. The owners made us feel very at home and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and I slept really well which is unusual for me even at home. I have a very stressful job working at Nottingham Children's Hospital and this trip was very much what the doctor ordered! When we come back we will definitely stay at the Belfont. Thank you so much.

If you need a chill out tonic then look no further than The Belmont Hotel Shanklin. Hosts Lyn & Des have perfected the art of home from home comforts. As soon as we arrived there was a warm welcome awaiting. The standard double room surpassed our expectations, and yes, it's true all meals and hospitalities are of a high standard. It is evident that both enjoy providing this service. It was nice to have a genuine relaxed atmosphere with a large amount of humor thrown in. Highly recommended will certainly return for more of the same.
Pete & Gina Maidstone.

Room Tip: Stayed in a double room overlooking garden. Very Quiet.

We stayed for a 3 night break with the intention of recharging our batteries. We did and left feeling extremely chilled and relaxed and did not want to go home.

There is not much we can add to all the previous positive comments except reiterate what other visitors to the Belmont have said

The bed was sooooo comfortable and the food top notch. Breakfast was a huge buffet with many choices as well as a scrumptious full cooked breakfast.

Lyn and Des are the perfect hosts, there if you need them. We thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them in the bar of an evening.

Since we last stayed there have been many upgrades such as a new breakfast bar (which looks stunning) flooring and seating in the dining room, seating in the bar, plus many others all of which have only enhanced the overall experience. The complimentary coffee and cakes in the lounge was very welcome after a long afternoon walk.

Our room on the top floor with a sea view had everything in you could need, dressing room, complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries, alarm clock, large flat screen TV, extra pillows and even binoculars to look out over the sea.

We would highly recommend the Belmont for your stay and we look forward to returning next year.

Alan & Rebecca
