“All too brief stay”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

We spent just one night in November 2013 and found it a lovely place to stay. The welcome from Jenni was great (not forgetting Booby her adorable Labrador!) and she could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious and the beds were really comfy. The breakfast was lovely and there was the added bonus of fresh tea, coffee and cakes available throughout the day as well as an honesty bar which is always a really nice touch. We definitely plan to return this year and would highly recommend this as a great place to stay in Shanklin as it is so close to all the amenities of the town.

Hello I'm using my daughters account but my daughter, my parents and I all stayed there and the service was brilliant along with the most wonderful and lovely hotel manager jenni. She couldn't of been any nicer.
In every room ( not the hotel rooms) they had lots of books and even if you don't like reading the atmosphere is brilliant. I would highly recommend this, the only fault. And it is really minor, I'd that the sausages were slightly overcooked. But as soon as you sat for breakfast they would come over and offer you toast and would provide you options. Like scrambled egg if they only had fried out, and if you wanted it they would freshly make it. They refill your tea trays every day when you leave. And as long as you leave your towels in the correct place they will be replaced with lovely clean smelling towelled. And a tip, if your old or have a difficulty walking, stay on the first floor where they have double doors where you can go through to get straight outside, a brilliant stay and would def RECCOMEND with its brilliant 30 second walk to the shops and 1 minute walk to the beach, loved it, stay here!!

Room Tip: Choose a room around the second or third floor. If you are old or are less able to walk choose a roo...

We arrived at the Grange to a delightful but small hotel. Every thing I wanted, it was clean friendly and home from home. Its close to the high street so easy to walk and sample all the restuarants. There were eight of us and all of us loved it.

Perfect location. Gorgeous setting, grounds peaceful, immaculate room, lovely friendly Jenny on arrival, Bev at breakfast and just made to feel at home despite the high end gorgeous décor and setting, one was made to feel totally at ease, even with my 9 year old daughter!
Spent two nights there, loving everything the Isle of wight had.
Shanklin is by far the nicest of all IOW locations. Great pub fare and local hospitality. Having just spent a week in Spain, and living in New Zealand now, this is a treasure I hope is always there for overseas guests to see what the UK is all about. Thanks to all. x
My mum is keen to come back and at 78 years young is planning a revisit with her friend. Great for old and young alike.

Thanks Jenny and the team from here in New Zealand, Helen and Yolanda
x

Room Tip: Rooms with the opening French door onto grounds.

My partner and I stayed at the lovely Grange hotel for a weeks break in early September. The staff were very welcoming (Including the lovely Boobie the Labrador) and we were accommodated in lovely clean double garden facing 1st floor room (No 9).

The "home from home" theme was so refreshing and it was really nice that a range of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruits and biscuits was available 24 hours a day. Also the bar with the honesty book offered a nice selection of snacks and drinks.

The Grange is strategically placed within walking distance to the Beach and the Old Chine which was simply great yet at the same time it is tucked away in a quiet and peaceful area!

The reception area has so many information leaflets you could pick up to plan where you would like to go for the day even if had no idea about the place.

Breakfast was nice and comprehensive and was cooked and served by the delightful Bev. The choice of breakfast was excellent and it was really nice that Soy Milk was available throughout the day.

Overall I would thoroughly recommend the Grange to both young and old and look forward to coming back.

Room Tip: Definitely recommend Room 9, which was on the 1st Floor and Garden Facing, so peaceful and quiet.

We have just spent 7 nights at The Grange.Jenni the manager could not have been any nicer, lovely lady. We were made to feel very welcome, and at home by Jenni and the staff. Great views. Ideal location, peaceful yet only a small walk to the old village, pubs and eateries, beach, shops. However some roads were quite steep, if you are not as fit as you once were. The buffet Breakfast had a wide choice, that would cover all tastes. Complimentary tea and coffee, fruit teas, hot chocolate and more available all day was a lovely touch, with apples and homemade chocolate brownies (thanks for the recipe Bev) along with a selection of biscuits freely available. Vast range of books and games in the lounge. Beautiful kept mature gardens. We had great weather all week. The Island is beautiful, We would definitely return to The Grange again. Thank you for a lovely week.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 1, on the ground floor, with French doors opening to a veranda, lovely.

We have just spent 4 nights at The Grange in a top floor room with a view of the garden and the sea. The room was well kept and comfortable. A good choice of breakfast to suite most pallets. Jenni and the staff were very friendly and informative. There were several local eateries and ale houses within walking distance. We are both in early sixties and we will certainly go again.

Room Tip: Request top floor with sea/garden view.
