I have stayed here twice in the past week! My first stay was with my parents and son and I took my husband back a week later.
The location is fabulous, the owners and staff are so friendly, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the breakfast is beautiful.
The family room with the balcony is worth the extra pennies.
In the evening we walked down to the Fishermans cottage for dinner and back up through the chine.
Thank you Dave and Ann - we will definetely come back and hopefully be able to stay for a bit longer next time.

Room Tip: Room 7 is lovely family room with balcony and fab view

Really lovely hotel - perfectly placed in the town of Shanklin - made to feel very at home.
Lovely pool, room clean and comfortable, good breakfast.
Return trip to the island (for one of us!) and not at all disappointed! want to retire to this idyllic island!

This has got to be one of the best places we have stayed at in the isle of wight, very welcoming owners and so relaxed. Brilliant location with everything just minutes walks away. Would highly recommend this lovely place

I am pleased to say that I have the pleasure of looking after the heating and plumbing at this hotel, as a person who travels regularly within this country and at some of the most exclusive hotels abroad, you could not ask for a better place to stay and eat, obviously I have been in every room ; kitchen; restaurant and bedroom within the premises, and I can say this hotel is well looked after, the staff are very friendly and professional, and to cap it all the owners are such genuinely and friendly people, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone

Room Tip: obviously sea view is preferential

The hotel has a lovely and charming appearance from the outside, in a good location and has pleasant rooms and breakfast. The entrance and check in area is very clean, tidy and well presented. Check in was quick from the owner of the hotel who also recommended a few places to eat and drink. In the check in area there are a few leaflets to the local goings on which are really quite informative. The bedroom we had was a little small, but not to cause to much of a problem, and had a good sea view. Wifi didn't manage to reach the room, not too frustrating for us as we wanted to get away from it all and relax for the weekend. Bedroom very clean and tidy, has no fridge but does come with hair dryer, coffee making facilities and a fairly decent flat screen tv. Bathroom has a bath / shower, complimentary shower gel/ hand lotion etc.Bath towels decent and absorbent, but the only problem I had was with the inconsistent water temperature for a shower, one minute hot, then one minute cold, then hot and so on. The tidiness and cleanliness is a credit to housekeeping who seem to move and work with the speed of a ninja. Breakfast is a pleasant experience, a variety of cereals to choose from, fresh juice, home made jams. Cooked breakfast was okay, service was quick and pleasant. No espresso but the filter coffee was okay as was the tea. Nice to have a vegetarian option as well at breakfast too. There is an outdoor pool and with the weather being so nice it was well used by the hotel guests. Overall, yes we would go back and yes a lovely place to stay, but the price can be a little on the heavy side and makes us think about checking out another hotel for next time.

Room Tip: If you can afford to pay for a sea view then yes i go for it.

Firstly apologies for taking over a year to write this review, (we travelled in July 2011) but having used Trip advisor for many visits over the last couple of years I thought it was about time i 'put something back'
Being regular visitors to the island we know most of the areas very well, and our usual hotel had changed hands.
Having read the reviews on here we booked for a week at the Havelock and were not dissapointed at all. Parking at the front is a bit tight, but the rear of the hotel is fine, although double parking (cars removed at request with no issues)
Breakfasts were ample with friendly service. We had the family room with a double bed, and an ajoining door into a twin room, which had a patio door leading to the suntrapped pool terrace.
The bar in the evening was quiet and relaxing, with great views over the coast, with snacks and homemade cakes available too.

My husband and I chose this hotel blindly because we got a deal online. If I knew more, I would have booked in advance to get a better room. We had no. 20 and it was small and noisy due to promiximity to the pool. Despite the sun and breeze, we had to keep our curtains drawn the entire time due to nosey neighbours. Everything about this hotel was superb and 5* except the room we got. We highly recommend it ~ just ask for one of the seaview rooms or any room other than 20!
