“An excellent hotel.”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

We have hust returned from the Havelock Hotel after a lovely week with 10 friends, all members of a vintage car club. We found the staff warm and friendly, nothing too much trouble; everywhere spotlessly clean, the beds incredibly comfortable and had some very good and quiet nights sleep. The award winning breakfasts are fantastic, just a shame I couldn't manage to eat everything on offer!

Room Tip: It's in a vey quiet location so all the rooms are good.

Stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was brilliant, the bedroom was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Owners were very welcoming! Location of the hotel is good, if you want to stay near the beach. Breakfast was freshly cooked and a very good standard. Would stay again.

Stayed 6th to 9th September 2013. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and freshly decorated. Our room number 4 was rather small, but had a good sea view. Excellent breakfast. Very convenient location, 5 minutes walk to old town and to beach.

Ideal location, smart rooms, very fulfilling breakfast, definitely recommend this hotel. Plenty of restaurants (Fine Nemmet worth the wait) & cafes to choose from round the corner & endless shops to browse in, you might bag a bargain in 1 of the many antique shops too.

I stayed with my boyfriend at the Havelock hotel for 4 nights at the end of August. The Havelock is a lovely place to stay, when it says it is conveniently place, they are not kidding! It is literally right next to the Shanklin Chine and so close the Old shanklin village we walked there every night for our dinner. The hotel itself is lovely, absolutely spotless and we had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived. We were on a budget so were in a 'small' double but getting into the room it was more than big enough for the 2 of us and had a lovely clean bath room. We were at the back so no sea view but we had the view of the pool which was very nice. I actually swam in the pool, it was like being abroad!! The breakfasts were delicious and the service fantastic. I can't say enough how much we both enjoyed our stay.

To top it all off, I accidentally left a box that had my retainer in in the hotel room (how embarrassing!) but I rang the Havelock when I was back home in London at 11pm at night. The lady who owns the place still answered the phone and was very pleasant and understanding and posted me my retainer (which I should wear every night!) and it arrived 2 days later. What a nice thing to do!!! :)

We will definitely be visiting Shanklin again and won't want to stay anywhere but the Havelock :D

Room Tip: I bet the front rooms have a gorgeous view of the sea but if your on a budget the back rooms have a...

We have stayed at the Havelock before and we never fail to have a lovely time there. The rooms have been freshly decorated and are kept extremely clean and whilst our room wasn't big it was lovely with a view over the swimming pool. The pool is heated and secluded and a real sun trap, whilst the hotel is right between the village and the seafront.

This has got to be one of the nicest hotels on the Isle of Wight and if your visiting Shanklin this is definitely the best hotel to stay in.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days here. The owners and staff are unfailingly welcoming and the hotel is comfortable (including a spacious lounge / bar). Breakfast is good for both choice and quality. The hotel is well situated for Shanklin Old Village, the seafront and the Chine. A wide range of places to eat of an evening within easy walking distance. No major roads alongside the hotel means no traffic noise at night/early morning. What's not to like?
