We stayed here for a birthday treat and had a lovely time. The host was very welcoming, friendly and gave us some helpful directions to get around the local area. Our room was at the back of the hotel, overlooking the pool area (closed as we were off season, but it looks great!). The room was extremely comfortable and very clean. The toiletries were good quality and there was a nice selection of tea and coffee.
Breakfast was a highlight, a really great selection from the buffet table including home-made jams and marmite (a rare inclusion!) and the cooked breakfast was superb. Freshly prepared and the eggs were perfect, every day. No wonder it has won awards.
The bar area was the perfect place to unwind before an evening out, and the hotel has a lovely view across the lovely garden to the seafront.
We didn't encounter any problems with parking, but I expect in high season you might find a little bit of trouble with getting blocked in on the top carpark but the hotel have a good system for managing this. Overall we had a really lovely stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to totally relax on the beautiful Isle of Wight.

Many thanks for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your birthday stay with us, the weather for the time of year has been a real bonus too. We have more parking than many accommodation providers locally and usually have enough spaces for all of our guests, there is also free on street parking close by. All the best. Dave & Ann

This is my second visit to "The Havelock" hotel and again I was very impressed with the hospitality from David & Ann Bunney . An excellent venue, the rooms are of a very high standard, along with the choices for breakfast.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is seeking to stay at a location in Shanklin that provides easy access to all amenities

I stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed the cosy room and excellent breakfast. They cater for all kinds of dietary requirements, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is only a short walk away from the beach and town centre. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Went here with my partner for a weekend at the end of March and had a lovely stay.

The host has a genuine sense of hospitality, always with a smile and keen to help however he can. The room was comfortable (although the bed was chronically creaky) and reasonably well appointed - I love a good shower and the en-suite satisfied.

Well located for access to Shanklin and the Old Village and the beach front, a little bit of a walk from the train station.

Overall, I would recommend.

Room Tip: We had a sea view room with an en-suite and, whilst not huge, and bathroom v good.

My boyfriend & I stayed here for 2 nights & enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing weekend. We were greeted with a very warm welcome from the owner Dave who was absolutely lovely & very helpful with suggestions of places to eat & visit which we really appreciated. Our room had a sea view & a balcony which was lovely, it was well decorated, very clean & comfortable. It is in a great location, just a 5 minute walk into Shanklin Old Village or Shanklin beach where there are a number of good places to eat out. The breakfast offered at the Havelock is delicious, I was especially impressed by the homemade loaf of bread each morning ( which was very very yummy) along with a variety of homemade jams/ preserves, there is also an option for a cooked breakfast & cereals.
We have previously stayed in a few different locations while visiting the Isle of Wight but I have to say this is my favourite place by far. Top marks for service, comfort, and location. We will definitely be back again in the summer!

We have stayed at this lovely place a few times now, and it gets better, if that's possible!
Dave and Anne had only just opened for the new season, but everything was up to the usual very high standard - lovely immaculately clean room and fantastic breakfast, efficiently served.
The breakfast room has been redecorated to a very high standard, and now looks modern and fresh. Would not stay anywhere else on the island!

We stayed here for 3 nights in September 2013. Dave and Anne the hosts were great. The room was clean and comfortable and drinks around the bar at night with other guests was very enjoyable. It is near the old village of Shanklin and close to the beach. The hosts were very helpful with suggestions of what to see and where to go. Would definitely stay here again.
